His books have themes that include alternate history, cyberpunk, distant future, post-human evolution, virtual reality, genetic engineering. His work has been described as a surrealist, Kafkaesque, weird and bizarre.
His first published novella, Victoria (1991) is part of his Steampunk Trilogy.
