I've long used the default Dell keyboard that comes with the PC, but my fingers are especially sore at the moment, so I figure worth looking out for a more finger-friendly keyboard - one where each touch is softer and more cushioned.

Does anyone use a keyboard with this in mind? Any recommendations from experience?

If you can comfortably type on a built in laptop keyboard, then a portable keyboard built like one could work. I tried a rubber keyboard where the keys were raised cubes on a flexible rubber sheet. It was half the size of a regular keyboard making it awkward to use and took some pressure to press the keys. I didn't use it.

If you can see this link, the anker keyboard looks very similar to the original external keyboard for the original ipad. It took no effort to press the keys on the apple keyboard. It was easy to use.

I use a wonderful Dell PS/2 keyboard (model AT102W) that I've had since 2006. Its action is low, light and quiet - an almost total absence of clatter. From Shift & Caps lock on the LHS to Page up, Page down & arrow keys on the RHS, the span is 34cm, which I find to be perfect. Your wrists lie at a natural angle and everything is accessible with only minimal left-right movement. The keyboard sits almost flush with the desk, with a very slight rake. It is heavy enough not to move about as you type - it just sits there, rock-solid. Work of art, IMO. Some video of it in action here:

I use a Kinesis Freestyle 2. It is a light touch keyboard and you can split it in two and pull the two halves apart so that you don't have to put your hands so close together, which can relieve tension in the wrists and elbows. I have arthritis in my little fingers, and they cope with this keyboard. I do also have some foam rubber from a cushioned insole stuck to the space bar, as the side of my thumb was objecting to being pressed on the space bar.

I have a Logitech MX Keys. A wireless keyboard. Have you ever seen a Sinclair QL? Similar looking keyboard, and key presses are silky smooth.

It's not cheap at £100, but honestly? It's the best keyboard I've ever used.
