Walter Jon Williams

Walter Jon Williams is an American writer, primarily of science fiction novels and short fiction, but he has also written tales of nautical adventure (as Jon Williams) and is a designer of wargames and RPG. He has also written within the Star Wars expanded universe, contributed short fiction to George RR Martin’s Wild Cards project, and TV and film screenplays.
He has written around 40 works of fiction, in addition to works in film, television, and comics.
His first SF novel to attract public attention was the cyberpunk novel, Hardwired (1986).
In addition to the Hardwired series, he is also known for the Dagmar Shaw series, beginning with This Is Not a Game (2009), the Maijstral trilogy, beginning with The Crown Jewels (1987) and the Praxis Universe, beginning with The Praxis (2002).
He doesn’t like to be bound by genres, and he describes Days of Atonement (1991) as a gothic western science fiction police procedural.
