Michael Austin Stackpole
born Wausau, Wisconsin: 27 November 1957
Michael A. Stackpole is an American author of science fiction and fantasy, and an RPG designer.
He is best known for his Star Wars and BattleTech books. Much of his work is related his games design work.
The first BattleTech book was Battletech: The Warrior Trilogy, Volume One: En Garde (1988).
The Star Wars books began with Star Wars: X-Wing: Rogue Squadron (1996).
The DragonCrown War Cycle, beginning with The Dark Glory War (2000) were an attempt to break with convention and introduce elements such as firearms into a fantasy setting.
His fantasy series, Age of Discovery, beginning with A Secret Atlas (2005), is set following a polar Disaster, in an Alternate World with magic.
Another fantasy series, the Crown Colonies, beginning with At the Queen's Command (2010), concerns a world resembling North America during the Revolutionary War, but with Zombies.
