R. L. Stine is an American author of YA and children’s horror books, but also science fiction, fantasy, thriller, humour and supernatural fiction, and also a writer and producer for TV.

He first began writing humorous books for children under the pseudonym Jovial Bob Stine, created magazine Bananas, and was the head writer for the Nickelodeon children's show Eureeka's Castle. His first horror novel was Blind Date (1986).

He is best known for his children’s horror fiction series Goosebumps, beginning with Welcome to Dead House (1992). These books concern teens or pre-teens who become involved in some frightening situation

Stine’s other notable works are in his Fear Street universe series, his Nightmare Room series, Mostly Ghostly series, Rotten School series and Point Horror series.

In 2003, the Guinness Book of World Records named Stine as the best-selling children's book series author of all time.
