I was under a delusion about fonts and copyright.
It isn't the font that is copyright, it is the program for the software font version
Get your heads around this one, (along with a little bit of letraset nostalgia if you are that age).

Eh, yes and no. A typeface isn't under copyright: i.e. the physical design of the letterforms because the alphabet cannot be copyrighted. However, once you turn a typeface into a font it is under copyright because it is considered software now and not simply an extension of the alphabet and, therefore, falls under copyright laws and licensing now applies. This is a rabbit hole I've fallen into as, besides needing to know for when I do cover designs and formatting, I'm currently trying to teach myself typeface design with the end goal of creating my own fonts.

Digital Motto, if it comes with the computer it should be free. Google says "The Arial font family is licensed by the Monotype Corporation. A microsoft windows license allows the use of Arial font for web design and development, or in print projects such as brochures or advertising, as long as the font is embedded or subsetted in the final output and the project is not intended to promote or sell a product that competes with Microsoft products or services. Times New Roman is also Monotype."
