Under the Dome TV series

On paper, the plot sounded terrific, an alien dome is dropped over a town, wow, so I and millions of others grabbed our popcorn and eagerly sat down to watch, but sadly it degenerated into a soap and i gave up on it in the first series, as did millions more, and viewing figures plummeted for seasons 2 and 3.
What did Chron members think of it?

Just for a change I agree with the majority. Terrible show.

It's not as if the book was much better. The dome was just a means to close off the community, which made the local people turn on its other. That was basically it.
The dome? Oh, yeah, the dome... Uh, that was explained on the final page in 5 sentences. Poof, end of story.
