Paul Kearney

Paul Kearney is a Northern Irish author fantasy (primarily epic fantasy) dark fantasy, science fantasy and historical fantasy.
Kearney established his reputation through his standalone novels: The Way to Babylon (1992), A Different Kingdom (1993), and Riding the Unicorn (1994). These novels share common themes, particularly featuring protagonists from our world who venture into fantastical realms.
He is probably best known for his Monarchies of God series, beginning with Hawkwood's Voyage (1995), is more tradition epic fantasy.
Kearney’s The Sea Beggars series, consists of The Mark of Ran (2004) and This Forsaken Earth (2006), but the final book, Storm of the Dead, remains unpublished due to legal issues.
He wrote the TV tie-in Primeval: The Lost Island (2008).
His next series, The Macht, consists of The Ten Thousand (2008), Corvus (2010) and Kings of the Morning (2012).
He then began writing in the Warhammer universe, in Warhammer 40K and the Space Marine Battles series: Calgar’s Seige (2017) and Calgar’s Fury (2017). His Umbra Sumus remains unpublished due to another legal dispute over the Darkhunters series name. He continued to write in the Warhammer universe, the last story being The Kerenski Diaries (2023).
His last novel series, The Wolf in the Attic, began The Wolf in the Attic (2016) but the second book, The Burning Horse was unpublished.
