Katherine Irene Kurtz

She is best known for her Chronicles of the Deryni universe, with all series set in a highly detailed parallel world hierarchical in structure and inspired by medieval Welsh society. The first novel published was in the series Legends of Saint Camber, and this was Camber of Culdi (1976). The other series are The Heirs of Saint Camber, beginning with The Harrowing of Gwynedd (1989); The Childe Morgan, beginning with In the King's Service (2003); Chronicles of the Deryni, beginning with Deryni Rising (1970) and The Histories of King Kelson, beginning with The Bishop's Heir (1984).
She also wrote several occult alternate history novels in her Templar Knights series, beginning with The Temple and the Stone (1998) (co-authored with Deborah Turner Harris).
Her Adam Smith/ Adept series, beginning with The Adept (1991) (co-authored with Deborah Turner Harris) is an urban fantasy.
Kurtz's other work of interest includes the juvenile SF, The Legacy of Lehr (1986).
She is another of the authors whose work has quite often appeared in the queries in our SFF Chronicles Book Search forum, an indication that it is remembered with some fondness.
