I'm driving myself crazy trying to remember the title of a book that I enjoyed many years ago and I just can't recall the title.
I keep thinking that the author was Zelazny but I always come up blank while searching his titles.
The story is about self-replicating mining machines placed on Titan millions of years ago by an alien civilization. Eventually these machines evolved into humanoid robots at the level of humans of the medieval age. They are very superstitious and religious, and even had robotic horses.
Humans eventually send a mission to Titan and come across these beings. They decide to make contact with the robots, but in doing so, the humans become gods to the robots.
It's truly a great book and I would love to find the title and read it again.
Thanks.
