Book Hauls!

Am jealous of 2 books GOLLUM ... you can guess which two.

I rescued from the garbage dump four books, all of which are older than my dad, but which some person in my condo complex decided to throw out:

Kidnapped - Robert Louis Stevenson
Four Stories - Robert Louis Stevenson
Tale Of Two Cities
- Charles Dickens
Sex in Daily Living the author of which I cannot remember right this minute.

Hi Nesa *Waves To Nesa*...:)

Today I got...

A Princess Of Roumania - Paul Park *Yhis YA novel has been described by Kelly Link as the best of Pullmann, Le Guin and Wolfe, quite a wrap.
The Tourmaline - Paul Park
The White Tyger - Paul Park
Dark Benediction (Collected Novels) - Walter M Miller Jr. *SF Masterwork
The Cat's Pajamas & Other Stories - James Morrow

And in the Post...

Lanark - Alasdair Gray

Meowrr GOLLUM ... have not heard of Paul Park but am very fond of books for children and young adults. The titles sound intriguing so I'll go and have a look over the weekend and see what they have here.

*Have just looked in Amazon and yes they have those Paul Park books here. I'd looked at them before and liked the muted, sombre covers but am always wary of books that say they are like the writing of another or a combination of several other well known writers. I'll go have a look again now.*

Alisdair Gray I've always liked and Lanark was the first book of his I ever read back in Law School.

JD ... why do you keep doing this? We don't already have enough reasons to turn into lifelong break-and-enter artistes

Thanks for the input Nesa. I'll be reading the Paul Park books next month before departing to Japan.

I'm getting some other Alasdair Gray books in the post soon, can't remember which ones at the moment...

Night..

Just ordered:

Territory by Emma Bull. See here. She's one of my favorite authors and it's been so long since she's come out with a novel

The Fox by Sherwood Smith
In Fury Born by David Weber

Just ordered (yes, I know I shouldn't, but I couldn't resist, sorry):

Five Complete Novels - Ursula K. Le Guin
His Dark Materials Trilogy - Philip Pullman

Addy ... which five LeGuin's are they?

Have fun with The Dark Materials. They are a good read.

It's the Hainish series. The five novels are:
Rocannon's World, Planet of Exile, City of Illusions, The Left Hand of Darkness and The Word for World is Forest.

I wasn't supposed to buy anything now, as I had already placed a large order last week, but I found The Dark Materials for $4, and the other book for $10, so I had to get them. I'm a cheap *******.

That is a good haul Addy and I am all for books at reasonable prices whenever and wherever they can be found.

Yes, so am I. I specially love big cheap second hand omnibus editions. And I'm known to spend large amounts of money in order to save a couple of bucks.:D

Picked up today The Last Coin: P. Blaycock H/C

The Sacred Seven: Amy Stout P/b, have not read anything by her

OK, I know I shouldn't, but you guys got me really interested in this, so I couldn't help it and bought:
The Earthsea Trilogy - Ursula K. Le Guin

On the subject of Pullmans trilogy AND saving money, I recently ordered the trilogy in paperback from the sf&f bookclub for the total of £0.00. Not sure whether it's a mistake or not, but they honoured the 'sale'... =D

Goodness Dylan ... that's a steal to beat all steals, especially if the books are in mint condition.

Addy ... Earthsea was my introduction to LeGuin and I still love those books. There's a fourth book called Tehanu, which she wrote many, many years after she finished with the original trilogy.

You can get all 4 EarthSea books in the one voulme these days...:)

Today I got....

Roadside Picnic - Arkady & Boris Strugatsky SF Masterwork
The Mammoth Book Of Vintage Whodunnits 1850-1905

Graphic Novels:

The Wood Boy & The Burning Man - Feist and Williams
The Crow - J O'Barr
The Comical Tragedy OR Tragical Comedy of Mr Punch - Gaiman & McKeath

The post brought...

Marina - Carlos Ruiz Zafon *Only to find the ENGLISH translation was still in Spanish. The supplier is not in my good books!....:mad::mad:
