Has any West Australian been to or belong to SwanCon?
I see there have been some terrific authors to some of the conventions which is great.:D
Apart from that and the membership price (!!) I was unable to find out much more about SwanCon. Is there someone out there who is able to enlighten me?:)

Checked out SwanCon site late last night.

Their next big convention is March 2006 in Perth.
Guests are - MERCEDES LACKEY AND LARRY DIXON!:)
Had better start saving up I think!!!:D

Thanks for the heads up Rosemary, will have to look into it. :)

It might not quite be in the same league a:) s WorldCon but it is our own!

Hope to see you there.

PS - are you 'wandering' or AT 'Wandering"?:)

Lol, I'd forgotten about Wandering. No I'm not that far South or that far from a Beach *shivers at the idea*.

I used 'wandering' as I was travelling about for a few years and even though I'm back home for now I decided to leave it, I think I'll always be a wanderer at heart. :)

Nice to know you're not freezing to death then:)

Hope you are not too far away, that you wont be able to attend the SwanCon. It sounds pretty good to me.

Got some Mercedes Lackey books I would like signed if that is possible.:)

I've heard of Swancon but never attended it sadly.

We're curently having our annual writers festival in Melbourne, more literary than Fantasy or Sci Fi specific.

All for now...:)

Well SwanCon is this side of the desert, so would be a little difficult to make it. Not sure how much they charge to get in. I know a years membership seemed quite high but if I save hard should be able to join next year.

I hope you find the time to go the the writers festival. Even though more literary it would surely be very interesting and informative. That's what I liked when I was a member of the 3rd Age University.:)

YEP 3rd Age University is really good, know quite a few people enrolled in these courses actually..:D

I've attended some of the Writer Festival as it was interesting even if it wasn't fantasy...;)

Hope you get the chance to go to the Writers Festival. If you do attend, then perhaps, if you have the time, you could tell us a little about it.

I have no doubt that there would be some interesting topics raised there. They might have some bearing on some of the isssues raised here on the Forums. :)
