Short stories about a statue in hell

Hello all, I am looking for some help, if anyone can offer it please. Back in the 1950s I read a book of stories that were sci-fi for the most part and want to read it again. I have no title or author (the 60s shot my memory), but I do recall that a young woman wanted to harm an enemy that wanted her physically. In order to defeat this enemy she was shown the entrance to hell and told to go there and find a statue that was poised for a kiss and kiss it. She made the treacherous journey and kissed the statue then returned and kissed her foe, thus harming him in some way. This was just one of the stories in the book. Anyone recognize this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
