New Outlander novel coming

What do people think of this series? I had heard good things about them so I started the first one, but didn't get on with it at all. I wasn't very fond of the writing style or plot.

You didn't enjoy it at all?? Wow, I'm amazed. I've not met a person yet who didn't devour it in one sitting (or close to), despite it's length.

Her writing style is what I would call 'conversational'. In other words, even though she uses proper grammar - the text comes accross as a person actually sitting down and speaking with the reader. Or, I've heard someone else say it is much like a journal. I find this style very easy to read, I feel as if I'm a part of the character's daily life.

I was also fond of the characters themselves - well rounded and realistic. Each one having a combination of good heroic type characteristics with normal everyday flaws, tics and abberrations.

I also liked her mixing in the bits of history and botanical lore. Made me want to go out and buy a Herbology Textbook :D .

I feel bad that you didn't like it, almost like I'm not letting you into my club or something :( . What types of books do you normally read?

Well, I amvery fussy about books, and tend to vary what I feel like reading all the time. maybe I should give it another try. I am so fussy that I rarely read new books- just keep rereading the sameold ones.

The only things Iv'e read in the past few months are the Princess bride- and- I can't think of anything esle, yikes.
