I went to the book store in the mall I work at and found an excerpt from A Feast for Crows. I don't know if everyone knows about this. Its is a portion from the prolog I think. This thing is a special pre-publication excerpt containing the Captian of the Guards in Dorne! And it is free! Compliments of Spectra.

Yeah, I saw a copy floating round the Brotherhood without Banners party at Worldcon. Looked to be some promo material for the new book - essentially all the sample chapters released so far put together. Didn't know about the POV of the Captain of the Guards at Dorne though

Interestingly GRRM said something about, since this was prepared before the decision to split his book, this promo for AFfC actually has a few Dance of Dragons sample chapters in it (don't get too excited, I got the feeling he meant the Ayra & Dany chapter's he's already posted)

To clear this up:

There are two 'sample chapter' booklets floating around. The 'Appetiser for the Feast' booklet (from which GRRM read at WorldCon) contains the first three Dany chapters which were originally going to be in AFFC, but are now going to be in ADWD. This was originally given out a few months back in NY. (We gave two away, including the one George read from, as raffle prizes at the Con, and there are many available on eBay.)

The 'Captain of the Guard' booklet is new, issued to booksellers in the US with the new edition of AGOT (in its new cover).

Get both, is my advice.

Grrrr.........I dont want to run around collecting book chapters in dark, dirty comic book stores or hunting the fringes of the internet to read the book. I want to go to a BOOKSTORE and pay money that I have worked for and get a good or service in exhange. Why is this getting so complicated? How many pages now have been released as sample chapters???????????

Sorry bout that rant but Im growing more afraid of being "spoiled" with every passing day and Im getting really anxious to get my hands on AFFC.

I think Arya said it best - GRRM is like crack, and you're the addict in withdrawal. Is there a free clinic around here with a GRRM substitute that can hold us over until November? I have the shakes and I can't sleep....

Okay for some reason I can't get to it right now because my computer is being a piece of ____, but all GRRM addicts can find summaries of the spoiler chapters and discussions of them on the ezboard GRRM site. I'd post the link if I could.

That being said, that other board doesn't hold a candle to this one. They're rather cliquey, it seems.

I had that impression as well. There are some good things to be read out there, however, so it's worth at least jumping over there from time to time to see if there is anything new and juicy.

Seriously, there are several 'cliques' I guess, but there are literally hundreds of active boarders over there, most of whom are not cliquey in the least - and we get at least half a dozen new members every week.

Not touting for business on Brian's board, but Ran's is a lot more welcoming than you think.

...everybody has different social chemistry—so different boards are different things to different people. I tend toward the opinionated side—bad chemistry.

I like the board Raven, but reading with those colors gives me a headache.
Seriously, my eyes start to blur up after just a few minutes of the odd contrast.

Ive popped over a few times before and like whats there though.

I agree with Trey - what is the general opinion on the display over there on the ezboard? I'd have to say that is about the worst choice in display colors. I can't read for more than a few minutes before I go blind and I feel my sanity start slipping away....
