Hi all!..
Some members have been asking me about books specifically involving animals, so I thought I'd list some YA ones here:
Eragon. Book 1 of Cristopher Paolini's Inheritance trilogy about a boy and his dragon.

Phillip Pullman's his Dark Materials trilogy. Probably for older teenagers but has some animals as a central theme. Worth a read.

Michelle Paver's Children's series starting with Wolf Brother, Book 1 of a six part installment The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.

Richard Adam's Watership Down, a classic tale of the genre.
David Clement's Fire Bringer and The Sight.
Brian Jacque's Redwall series. Very popular series, perhaps a classic series in the making.
Robin Jarvis The Dark Portal, Book 1 of the Deptford Mice Trilogy, younger audience ages 9-12.
Eve Bunting's Red Fox Running. Beautifully lyrical book for younger children, ages 4-8.
Collin Dann's The Animals Of Farthing Wood series. Very popular amongst younger children.
Kenneth Oppel's Silverwing series, younger children.
Erin Hunter's Warrior series, not bad, Redwall probably better.
Tad Williams Tailchaser's Song. This was Tad's first book and having read all of his books I quite liked this one myself, recommended..
Kenneth Grahame's classic Wind In The Willows. Do yourself a favour and check this one out...
A. A. Milne's Winne The Pooh
E. B White's classic Charlotte's Web.
Another now familiar book/movie by E.B. White Stuart Little.
Rudyard Kipling's classic The Jungle Book.
Roald Dahl's classic James and The Giant Peach.
AVI's Poppy book series, ages 8-12.
This is only the tip of the iceberg so please feel free to add to this list..
