Anyone here know if there are any events, big or small, such as reading groups, forums, conventions, conferences,... dedicated to sci-fi that take place in London? Are there any big clubs which you could join as part of a group? :p

Thnx,
AA

I'm sure there are people on the forum with more infomed knowledge than me, but I'm not aware of any, the only thing i can suggest is author appearences - I know not ideal but theres normally fellow fans who don't mind a bit of a chat.

Hi I'm a member of a Sci fi/fantasy club in Melbourne that's actually the second oldest Sci fi club in the world, started in the shadows of post WWII and NO I wasn't one of the founding fathers OR mothers... :p

I'd be amazed if there wasn't several fan clubs in London along similar lines.

Here's a link to one of the so-called Meeetup Groups started by people in London (we have several in Melbourne of this nature).

There's also a Sci Fi/Fantasy film festival that's been running since 2002 in london, looks like this years has already gone but here's a link that may prove handy for next year's events:

Hope this helps.. :)

There's also this one - the British Science Fiction Association's monthly meet, which get authors as well, and which.. Oh, blast, was last week and I meant to go.. Oh well.

And there's the London Group SF meets...

Which is the first thursday of every month, which is this Thursday, come to think of it. Which I already have plans for. Bugger. I only just found out about both of these events, being completely new to the whole sci-fi fandom thing. I'm not faring too well attendance-wise, it would seem. Enjoy if you go! They all sound quite friendly.

Hi everyone

I'll try not to make this sound too much like a press release, but being the Short Film Coordinator I'm kind of biased....:)

The London Science Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival takes place from 26th-30th April 2006 at the Apollo West End, and in what is now it's 5th year, the festival is extremely proud to be chosen as the new home of the Arthur C Clarke Literary Award, the most prestigious award for science fiction writing in Britain.

Hello Everyone

I am starting a new sci-fi film event in Shoreditch London on Sunday the 7th of October 2007.
It will run the first Sunday of every month after that date.
It will be a place for science fiction fans to watch films and socialise.
There will also be a bar where the event is being held so you will be able to buy refreshments.
The ticket prices are £8 on the door or £7 in advance.
For more information please go to: Parallel futures .

Thank you.
