This is the thread to record your new DVD hauls.

Thanks to the help of a friend who was willing to carry these in from the US, I bagged the following sweet haul.

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]From the Criterion collection:

Akira Kurosawa - 4 Samurai classics (Seven Samurai / Hidden Fortress / Yojimbo / Sanjuro)
Ingmar Bergman Trilogy - Through a glass darkly / The silence / Winter light
The seventh seal
Picnic at Hanging Rock

Others:

Casebook of Sherlock Holmes
Martin
Re-animator (Millenium edition)
Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (SE)
Return of the Living Dead (SE)

nooo Picnic at Hanging Rock is like one of the creepiest movies of all time!!

i've been a bit quiet on the DVD front lately, but here's what i got recently:
Lock Up (widening my Stallone collection)
Battlestar Galactica season 1
Waterloo Bridge

Have never seen 'Picnic At Hanging Rock', must chase it up someday.

The last DVD I bought was Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon A Time In The West'. I haven't actually seen it but have wanted to for a long time, and it was such a bargain that I couldn't pass it up. Planning to indulge this weekend.

Just bought (but haven't yet watched) Brotherhood - a korean war movie.
Also got a bit nostalgic and purchased Disney's "The Rescuers" and "Castle in the Sky" by Hideo Miyazaki :)

Last DVD's I bought were Outlaw Star Complete Collection and The Incredibles

Paul & Pauline Calf's Ham & Cheese Sandwich.

It's from Steve Coogans live show, and features both Paul Calf ("Bag o' *****!"), and his sister, Pauline, who had written a one woman show entitled Floss, based on the life and times of Florence Nightingale. It's damn good.

"All the men have syphilis, I blame myself"

Also included on the DVD is every single stand-up act Paul Calf did on Channel 4's late night show, Saturday Zoo, plus a "Making of ..." special featurette, which I haven't watched yet.

Zombie Flesh Eaters - the classic cheesy zombie movie
13th Warrior - excellent S&S flick recommended me by a friend
Brotherhood of the Wolf - a weird stylish fusion of period drama, horror, and kung fu

I'm next looking to pick up 'The Whole Wide World', a romantic bio-pic of Robert E Howard and Novalyne Price

My recent purchases are

House Of Wax/Mystery Of The Wax Museum (double bill)
Countess Dracula/The Vampire Lovers (another double bill)
Dr. Who: The Tomb Of The Cybermen (Patrick Troughton 1967)

Looking forward to watching these:)

After summer, it's only been two.

Kontroll, an hungarian thriller about ticket controllers in the subway.
Metropolis. No, not Fritz Lang. It's a rather impressive animè based on an old manga by Osamu Tezuka.
