John Sladek - opinions?

Advice wanted please - I've been told the 'Rodderik'(?! ) series by John Sladek are worth a read. I know one of you guys will have read them - what are they? Worth a trawl of Abe to get?

Meline not being a big Sci Fi fan all I can tell you is that Sladek's Roderick series is part of the SF Masterworks series, so prsumbably it must be a reasonable read at least. I saw some reviews on the series suggesting the writing was good but a little repetivtive and best read in short doses.

No doubt someone here's read these books and can provide a much more comprehensive answer. The 2 books in the series are:

Roderick At Random
