Who do you prefer?
Sometimes Garion can be a little slow, which is kind of endearing but also slightly infuriating!
I much prefer Errand. I love the way he understands things and the way he can see into peoples hearts.

Thoughts anyone?

i love garrion. his descriptions of faldors kitchens are so wonderful. also, errand to me is never fully developed. i'd choose garrion every time, and he's not slow, just thoughtful:)

Heheheh!
Yeah ok then he's thoughtful.
Just annoying when you work out things chapters before he does. Lol.
(I'm reading the first book of the Mallorean.)
I still like him, just not as much as Errand.

I have to agree. I liked Errand but i felt more of an affection for Garion.

this is because we have extra information, don't forget, a useful plot device to keep things moving at a good pace.
if he figured everything out immediatly from small infestismal hint's it'd not be believable. he's very human, which is one of the things i prefer.

Ok so I'm reading King of the Murgos now.
The twists are getting better.
So Errand is actually Eriond?
I can see why you guys prefer Garion now.

I liked Errand as a kid though.
Maybe it was those blue eyes.

King of the murgos was quite good.
now, Zakath or Garion, mmm that would be more difficult...
Zakath, reformed bad guy? or garion, Lovable good guy....
black leather or tee-shirts...
this is turning into the this or that game....
i'm going to stop soon...
or not...;)

Bel and Pol are (going mad and can't think of word here) honorary beginings added to names meaning beloved. so garion became bel garion, and belgareth was gareth.

Yeah I understand that. :)
It's just that I'm only on King of The Murgos so they haven't added the Bel to the Errand yet.
;)

ummm... Hi, I'm new here, but I love the David Eddings books. I like Garion the best, but i think that it's because of David Eddings's ability to write a great book and, dare i say, give the readers almost no choice in whether they fall for Garion or not... Also, it's from Garion's POV so there's really no choice left in the matter.

Hi Psychogirl & welcome to the forums.
I agree that Garion is obviously the main focus and, right from the moment we meet him, Eddings goes out of his way to portray the 'weirdness' of Errand to disassociate him as different from the rest of Garion's companions.
What did you think of the Malloreon and it's expansion of Errand's character? :)

Thankyou so much for writing back! I think that the Malloreon are really good because you get to see Garion and Ce'Nedra grow up (a bit), but I didn't really like the fact that Errand became the new God in the end, i liked him alot better when he was a cuddly little kid

pfft! C'Nedra never grew up! ;)
Errand did evoke more of a connection when he was cuddly because he was more human I believe. I myself found it gratifying that he found his greater purpose and became what he was supposed to be even though I seem to remember feeling that it distanced him somewhat :)

Maybe she did grow up, but just didn't want people to know... O.K, so maybe not. but there is still a possibility that she could...

I don't think that he was more human, as such, i think that everyone felt sorry for him because he had had such a sad life up till the point where he was taken in by Polgara and Durnik

Ha!, well well, what a very unromantic way to look at it :D
