In January 2006, to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the Great Reading Adventure in Bristol (and most of the South West of England) will be having events and getting people to read a classic by Jules Verne... Apparently Jules Verne sailed on one of Brunel's last ships (The Great Eastern)...

Though that only has information for the last few years...

I remember seeing a BBC program on Brundel fairly recently. Before then I'd never heard of this person and I never knew about this reading thing in Bristol, so thanks for the information TM, even if I won't be able to attend...:(

But like most Aussies, aren't you coming to the UK to take up bar-work??? ;)

Or would the recent Ashes defeat be too difficult to cope with...

The Great Reading Adventure sounds like a great idea... Getting adults and kids reading a book together, giving away lots of them to schools and other education facilities...

Well fortunately I don't need a bar as I have a fully equipped one down here in the Basement complete with Bar maids...;)

One day I plan to visit London again where I hope terrorise you in person...:p

In the meantime, let us know how it all goes with the Reading Adventure...
