I know, I should be ashamed of myself, but I never read Frank Herbert's Dune. But I finally bought a copy. I'm not sure if it's done before here, or if people are intrested, but would it be nice to have a 'chapter-by-chapter' discussion about it?

Let's start with book 1... But who knows how much it is going to be enjoyed?

problem is the chapters are not that big. I can't read only one at the time (and I know most of the book by heart too.)

I believe we've already covered Dune - but I've nothing against discussion of it by chapter. :)

However, to avoid spoilers, I would *definitely* recommend you read the first book yourself, then come back and do a chapter by chapter analysis as required.

Well, we can agree on 50 pages (or a hundred if you ask me), depends on what other people want. We can agree on the 'rules' can't we?

A chapter by chapter discussion of a book you haven't already read fully is a dicey thing. What if you keep analysing some aspect only to find it turned on its head a few chapters ahead? You need to have an overall arc in mind to be able to do a sensible discussion. It's hard enough with multi-book no-end-in-sight sagas (Even Dune's sequels will provide you with much future discussion matter), but suggestions for chapter-by-chapter discussions earn a big "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" from me :D

Edit: I have a suggestion. As you read each chapter jot down specific points you wish to discuss. When you're done with the book collect the points you still feel hold good discussion potential and bring 'em in here. You will doubtless find many eager like-minds here :)
