Lemony published his twelfth book to his Series of Unfortunate Events this last October... Looks like the Baudelaire Orphans are in for another disaster. And from what I saw there looks like there will be 13 books in all. :)

Has anyone read this whole series yet?

Here's Lemony's official website:

i watched the movie and loved it, i havent read the books yet, are they any good? I would assume they were considering i liked the movie but you never know.

I've read to The Wid Window, and fully intend to read the rest some day. I wouldn't mind a look at the unauthorised biography of Snickett, either. The arts all good and they get much funnier after the first book, it seems.

Yeah, I read The Bad Beginning, and own the next two, but never seemed to get around to reading them. I did like the first, and adored the movie, so one day I'm sure I'll get them read. They're hardly tough to get through, after all....

I've read the first three books (and watched the movie :D) and found they were very simple quick reads. My then, eight year old son could read them with no problems. There's some humor in them and they are very clever! They always have a situation that the orphans have to figure out of and there's a villian who is very bad! One of the things I liked about the books, from a 'mom' perspective, is Lemony would use a 'big' word then he would give a definition for it. It's kind of his trademark through the series.

ive read them all but the penultinate peril

the first 6 were really depressing in places but after thatit became more plot line

Yeah I love the word definitions, they're really useful.

I've read all of them and the autobiography, which isn't really helpful.

Cornelia-Caela-Noah... I love the definitions also. And welcome to Chronicles. :)

I thought I would post this series in whole.

I read up to The Carnivorous Carnival before I grew tired of them. The first three were fresh and interesting but the series soon became predicatable and deppresing. The orphans are always treated badly, see Olaf in disguise, nobody believes them. Then they find proof and Count Olaf get away. They will never catch him, not up until the last book, and when Snickett has made enough out of 13 hardback published books. Anyway, sorry to make my first post a criticizing one, but I have very strong opinions on the matter.

Welcome Samuel. I'm glad you posted and wrote out your thoughts. I haven't finished this series yet... I'm on book 4 :)

i've read them all.. ithink they are lovely little books.

the plot isnt the main focus of the book..of course its a similar plot it's the childish jokes the semi- adult jokes and the writing style that made them

i've even read the 'biography'

i started reading the books before the movie came out, they were good at first, but then it just got a bit like she was writing because she had 2

I must admit, I have really enjoyed reading the first few Lemony Snicket books to my 8 year old son. They are written in a style that, for me at least, makes them a pleasure to read out loud.

I loved the movie and have read the first four books. He's also got the most ludicrous titles for the books. Wonderfully bizarre and quite hard to resist.

I've decided to wait until I have all 13 and then read them all in one sitting. I'm rather curious to see the effect of reading about one disaster after another without a break and I'd like to see what the flow and the rhythm would be like unbroken. It'd almost be like walking in the shoes of the Baudelaire children then.
