Philip K. Dick Robot

Thats amazing...if slightly unnerving. It raises some questions as to how far we will go with this type of technology.

After readig his biography, I'm sure Philip K. Dick would be very impressed with that, and also a bit paranoid... I know I would be...

More the latter than the former, I'm sure. No doubt such a sight would have only served to worsen his already deteriorating mental condition. The man was a genius, and also sadly insane.

Suffering from mental illness, yes. Insane, no. Genius, definitely.:)

He took such drugs as acid, LSD and other things which deteriated his mental condition anyway, but I think, from what I remember he developed paranoid schizophrenia. I may be wrong though

Do you know offhand what he did suffer from? I been exposed to several though friends and relatives and I'd be quite curious to find out.
He experimented with LSD but his favorite candy was amphetamines. I'm current reading Divine Invasions by Lawrence Sutin, which I believe is the definitive bio on PK Dick. He didn't care much for LSD although he took it. He had some definite mental issues that I'm sure the drugs acerbated.

Phillip K. Dick Is Missing - Have You Seen This Android?
Guest Contributor: Rita in Hood River

It appears that the famous, almost spot on robot of world-renowned author Philip K. Dick is missing in action.
The real P.K. Dick has been dead for over 20 years, but his writings continue to inspire a generation of readers. His books have spawned such flicks as the new Keanu Reeves film "A Scanner Darkly," and box-office hits like our fan's number one pick of all-time greatest scifi movies "Blade Runner" the Schwartzenegger vehicle "Total Recall," and Spielberg's "Minority Report."
It was hoped that the look and sound alike android would last as long as his written legacy but now that is in question since its disappearance early last month. The android was last seen being loaded onboard a commercial jetliner bound for California. And like a plot right out of one of Dick's novels the robot just disappeared and never showed up at its assigned destination.
It seems clear to the police and the company that holds the rights to the android that it has been kidnapped and they are expecting a ransom demand at any time now.
Elaine Hanson, a spokesperson for Hanson Robotics said that the robotics firm will consider building a new P.K. Dick android if the original fails to return to their hands.
I personally am of the opinion that a ransom will never come to light as the kidnapper (hijacker) of Dick's circuited twin is a private collector and would never part with his/her prize at any price.

If it was correctly programmed, it probably took itself apart in the baggage hold, packed itself into several pieces of luggage, then reconstructed itself in the baggage handling area before walking out to freedom through the service door; no need for kidnapping theories at all.:D
