Batman (1943)

In case anybody else is interested, the original 1943 serial of Batman is now available on DVD (region 1). That makes both originals (1943 & 1949) now available.

Now all we need is the release of the 60s series but that doesn't look likely for a very long time yet. I read recently (and I hope my memory serves me well here) that Fox (who own the series) and Warner (who own the character) can't come to an agreement. This leaves the whole thing in DVD limbo.

Come on you movie-mogul guys. Think of all us poor deprived fans and get yourselves sorted:)

The studios really do need to come to an agreement considering how hot of a market anything Batman is on DVD. We will have to settle for the 1966 movie from the sixties television series for now. Or the "Scooby-Doo meets Batman and Robin" cartoon episode if times get really desperate.

The 1943 Batman film serials is defidently going on my must-buy DVD list. It looks to be fairly priced, too (twenty bucks before tax on Amazon).

I used to love watching the repeats of the sixties series on sunday mornings, same bat time same bat channel you don't really get chessy fun like that any more they don't even show repeats of that sort of thing either its just the weeks worth of hollyoaks and old friends shame really you used to get batman land of the giants lost in space really bad but very entertaining programmes I sure there was more can anyone think of them mid to late 80's to early 90's maybe earlier on Channel 4

I wonder if the lack of Batman repeats on TV is also because of the impasse?

As for some older series - Time Tunnel springs to mind - as does Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea

There are a few things becoming available on DVD. One is Target Earth - a thriller from the fifties about a few folk left stranded in an empty city as aliens invade.

The trailer looks like it might be pretty good so I've just ordered a copy:)
