I read some books of this author and really enjoyed them.
If there are others woh read his works, too, it would be cool if you could share what you thought about them.
Unfortunately (as far as I know) there was just one of his books which was translated into English. But they were transleted into a lot of other languages, too.

The last one I read was about a man who was part of a project of the US-government. He and some other voluteers were made to cyborgs to create the ultimative soldier. The project didn't work out as it was planned and was stopped.
The maincharacter moved to a little village in England to get some distance from his past ( noone there knows about his past). The people gt used to him and to him getting a parcel every 4 days ( with his food since he was not able to eat anything else), After some time he starts to get problems with his implants and tells his doctor the story since he needs special medical treatment.
But then people who are connected to his past appear and a series of events starts.....
He tries to flee but he realizes that he can't just run away from his problems and this is the beginn of his fight (not not fight like killing people but talking to other people and even to reporters) against the methods of the US-government.

At the beginning it maybee sounds a bit like scifi book. But it is more likely to be a book about moral and social issues with scifi elements.
If you can get your hands on one of his books I really would recommend them to you.

As I know German I know of Eschbach but not read anything by him.

The book translated into Englsih is called The Carpet Baggers. Orson Scott Card appears to be an enthiusiatic supporter of this author. Here's a snippet on this book from the New York Times:

A novel of ideas that evokes complex emotions through the working out of an intricate and ultimately satisfying plot, with echoes of Gene Wolfe, Ursula Le Guin and Isaac Asimov

...And the author's website (English) for anyone else interested:

I read Carpet Baggers and reviewed it very favorably for my Analog column. He is both different and excellent.
