We started some preliminary sketches for Tad Williams "The Burning Man", which was the novella in Legends, edited by Robert Silverberg, enjoy :) I'll be away for about a week, but I will keep you updated with artwork and answer any questions when I come back.

Wowsers - now they do look very good. :)

No idea on the story, though - if anyone wishes to present details, they are welcome to. :)

Re:

I'm happy that you guys like what you see :) My artists just started working on Tad Williams so I will post the conceptual sketches as they are completed. I don't really want to ruin the story for anyone, but it can be found in Legends anthology edited by Robert Silverberg. As time goes by we will start to let out news of which new fantasy or scifi authors that we are adapting and I will post the news on the boards for all of your information as well as pictures and sketches for your viewing pleasure :)

Alright Khan, can you please explain to me exactly what you do? Maybe I missed it.

Do you work WITH these writers?

Are you an artist yourself?

How many projects are you working on?

Is there a webpage for your group?

Are you part of a company?

You can PM me the answers if you don't want to say it in public.

Well, Twelve, my name is Ernst Dabel and I'm the President of DBPro www.roaringstudios.com My three brothers and I (The Dabel Brothers) have licensed out some of the best fantasy and scifi authors and we are adapting their novels into comic book format. As a big fantasy fan myself, I'm trying to spread the word and letting every other fan know about it so that they don't miss out. I've hired writers and artists to bring our favorite books to life, talk about a dream come true.

We're working on a lot of projects, some of them you already know by now George R.R. Martin, Dragonlance, Tad Williams, Robert Silverberg, oh and the artist for Raymond E. Feist will be starting very soon as well. Anne McCaffrey won't be too long behind and then we have a couple of surprises for you, but I can't mention any of them yet :)

Here are some other conceptual character sketches that I got today from the artist, for your viewing pleasure, 12, my friend, enjoy :)

Forgive me, but I'm having a hard time grasping all of what you just said.

I mean, sheesh...you're pretty much IN the comic business. And not only in...you're working with THE boys in fantasy.

That's really great. I checked out the website and I see that you guys are BUSY. Fun, fun.

Ooooh, I really like these sketches. Breda's boyfriend is a hunk! Godric is wonderful - intense, but very humanistic (but he doesn't have any lips, he must not be a good kisser

).

Now I'm very interested if you guys are going to be doing some Feist and McCaffrey...are these going to be based on short stories as well or on stories pulled out of their popular series'? I can see the Dragonriders being done beautifully in graphical form.

Yes, we're in the comic book business, my friend. My brothers and I own DBPro and we've entered a very fruitful partnership with Devil's Due who are doing GI Joe Vs. Transformers and Voltron. Yes, we're extremely busy, and I make it a point to let all the fantasy and science fiction fans know because everything ties in. For example The Legend of Huma comes out in January, fantasy fans everywhere are going to comic book stores with the Legend of Huma Order Form, not only to buy it for themselves but to show these retailers that the fans support these famous authors. You see if LOH succeeds then more fantasy/scifi authors come to us so that we can adapt their work as well. It was the success of The Hedge Knight with the George R.R. Martin fans that made it possible for us to have all these other authors, so all of our books tie in and their success brings us more of our favorite authors :)

I'm happy you like the sketches, my friend. My artist is hard at work doing more character sketches. Yes we are doing Feist and McCaffrey. First their short stories found in Legend "The Wood Boy" and "The Runner of Pern" if they are successful when they come out then we tackle the famous novels that we all know and love. George R.R. Martin's The Hedge Knight is a success with his fans and we sold out of them within the first week of the comic books hitting the stores and because of this they are ensuring that we can adapt A Song of Ice and Fire. So after "The Wood Boy" if it does well we can adapt "Magician Apprentice" with Pug and Tomas and the same goes for all the authors that we are working with. The success of each is important to all of us, I hope that I explained it well, my friend :)

You explained it very well. Now I just might have to own these comics you are putting out. And I've never owned one in my life!

Do they only sell in the comic stores or can they be had online as well?

Re:

Okay, I'm happy that I explained it well. The Hedge Knight issue #1 and #2 sold out, but you can still ask at your comic book store sometimes they have more than one copy for themselves and they part with it :) Dragonlance will be out in January, but you have to print out the Order Form, which is on this link http://members.aol.com/msmiller1/diamond1.jpg and then bring it to your comic book store retailer, also don't forget to tell them how good these fantasy/scifi authors are, they take the customers words to heart :) No nothing online, except for the Hedge Knight, since it sold out people are selling them on e-bay, here is a link: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=Hedge+Knight

Re:

You're welcome, my friend. As soon as I get more conceptual sketches for Tad Williams story, I will post it up right away :)

I really do like the sketches in this thread - it's funny how even the illustrations themselves promise an entirely different story to the Hedge Knight. There's something completely different conveyed in the characters sketched, and they particularly draw me in. Just tell your inkers to go easy on them!! ;)

Re:

I'm happy that you like what you see, my friend. I will take your advice to heart and speak to my inkers. Don't worry, we have more surprises for you in the near future so sit back and relax. As we just began Tad Williams it will take some time to get more artwork but they will come :)
