I originally wanted to discuss what everyone here thought about Tom O' Sevens placing himself in Emmon Frey's household at Riverrun. I was looking forward to everyone's speculation. The Freys are universally reviled by all here at this forum. I thought it was because of the Red Wedding, but all of a sudden I had a revelation-the name Frey is inherently evil! I will cite two examples. First we have author James Frey, whose book A Million Little Pieces boldly blurs the line between fiction and non-fiction. Such a work of art could be considered truly avant-garde; problem is the book was supposedly a memoir of his recovery from drug abuse. Oprah put this book in her Book Club and consequently it became a best-seller. Soon it was discovered that some of the things he wrote in the book (i.e. most of them) did not happen. Oprah had him come on her show and gave him the most brutal tongue-lashing I've ever seen on television. So thanks James Frey for giving recovering drug addicts an even worse image than we had before.
My second bad Frey is responsible for some of the lamest, most-whitebread records that ever sold a bajillion copies; I'm talking about Glenn Frey of the Eagles. I will not elaborate on his musical crimes, for the evidence of his atrocities is readily available in various media. His solo hit "The Heat is On" was the theme song for my St. Louis Cardinals' World Series run in 1985-I blame Glenn Frey for the Cardinals' failure to win the series.

Hail be to the Lord of Frey-Smashers! Personally, I hope every last Frey will be literally hunted down and slaughtered mercilessly like the pitiful weasels they are by Arya, Nymeria, and a huge pack of wolves.

Interesting theory but I must say it was slightly amusing to see Oprah have to apologise to everyone.
I'm not sure what Tom is doing hanging off the Freys. Maybe he is trying to gather info for UnCat as to what the Lannisters are doing since they're hardly going to get any ravens for news. I also thought maybe he was finding out the Frey movements so they could be ambushed but he wouldn't be able to relay any messages quickly enough.

Yoss, blaming the Cardinals loss in '85 on Glenn Frey? How about First Base Ump Deckinger? Not that I minded being a Royals fan...

And what about Amber Frey... she was involved with the man resposible for the Red Divorce.

Somehow I don't think Oprah's opinion, some obscure baseball trivia and a band that hates each other and hasn't released anything new in years is the reason we hate the Freys.

It's the Red Wedding...and the fact that they represent the worse kind of white trailer trash you've ever met.

Amuzing theory though!!

I'd like to put my silliness aside for a second and actually discuss the topic that has relevance to this forum. Will Tom O' Sevens act quickly and work towards restoring Riverrun to the Tullys, or will he bide his time and try to find a way to the Twins so he can get Stoneheart and friends in for some extreme Frey slaying?

this was hilarious BTW you have way too much time on your hands to have thought this through:D

Oh something tells me Tom's going to bide his time at Riveruun and 'befriend' Genna as Jaime suggested. From there he can feed Stoneheart and the BwB with all the good gossip on Frey movements...

Anyhow the moment the 'late' Lord dies (not long now one way or another)Stoneheart is the least of the Freys' concerns. Expect fraticide big scale in the Riverlands as too many Freys equals power struggle over the inheritance.

Stuff to look out for.

1) Edwyn VS Black Walder
2) Emmon Frey certainly showed the ambition if not the brains to compete for the Twins. His marriage to Genna will likely keep him in the 'game' longer than his abilities and cause the Lannisters no end of headaches.
3) '*******' Walder and the 'late' Lord's various other 'Rivers' children.
4) The real wildcards - the 'late' Lord's children by his sixth wife, Bethany of House Rosby, particularly look out for the real 'diamonds-in-the-rough' of the Freys, Roslin Tully and her full brother Olyvar Frey, who by all accounts took his squiring to the Young Wolf seriously.

Also expect to see at least Frey PoV in the future.

Never thought of that one. Could be interesting but only with the right Frey (Black Walder maybe).

I think for me personally I'd be more interested in seeing the PoV of a Frey who starts off a fair way from inheriting the Twins, than the likes of Edwyn and Black Walder whose ambitions are all too clear. I could see this character initially fearfully struggling to back the right relatives as heir as the power struggle begins, but to slowly become more competent and confident as they survive and prosper as others in their horrible family are killed off, then to suddenly realise they are a few moves from securing the Twins from themselves...

Tom, you've put a lot of thought into the Freys. Good work. I like your thinking that Roslin and Olyvar might be potential POV's and major players after Edwyn and Black Walder clear the way for them.

Is Roslin pregnant with Edmure's child? If it is a boy, then Edmure's life will be measured in minutes. If it's a girl, will Jaime let Edmure live to father a son? All that will be just more fuel for Brynden's fire of revenge.

The Eagles have some amazingly songs, so thats not a good pont, and who cares about american football anyway, its is just bad rugby, and both of them are so incredible boring. I mean it takes five minutes alone, just to win like 10 meters of field, so dull, i can not watch it for longer then 5 minutes, the same goes for your baseball, how in the hell can people ever like watching or playing that sport, its all zero's anyways, with like 1 point every 6 !!!! games.

as for the freys i hope the good guys get on top in the end, though i am sure we'll see a reign of the bad ones first, its like with the Lannisters, first you get all the crappy evil ones on top (tyrion is reasonably good, but still) and then you will be getting the somewhat better ones who have some honor in them, its like the french revolution, all the evil ones come on top for they can intimidate and brutalise the rest, till they go to for and after a long while a somewhat good regime comes out on top.

Still i have to say i hate all the Lannisters, i understand why some people like them, but i hate the whole lot of them. Tywin is like Milosevic, he never does anything bad himself, but orders others to do his dirty work, Cersei is a coward with no scrupules and no real goal/vision except to somehow get on top, but does not truly know how to deal with anything but thinks she does, Jaime is the best but his incestual love for his sister and love for himself make him a loose madman, and tyrion is always in selfdenial, he tries to some good, but does many evil things nonethless and sits idly by when his family brings genocide to the people of westeros, Tywin his brother, only see the good in in tywin, is seems rather dumm, he is not evil but just moronic(probably like their father) and just knows how to follow , Lancel seems like his father, an easy useable fool, and though he may not be truly bad, it is clear that he overrides his ethic viewpoints rather easily if something is to be gained by it, is basically a young version of jaime and his own father combined.

Joffrey is aerys the third so nuff said, Tommen is a goodhearted dimwit who only cares for games, granted he is at the moment but a young incestual bastardn still he seems remarkable uncaring of everyhting what is happening and cares only for his stupid games, clearly he will make a bad king whom lets other control him and use its powers, now and in the future when he growns up, for he will not know any better, Myrcella is insipid , i do not belive for one bit she is intelligent, and is somehow like tommen

I thank George for finally bringing some misfortune down upon them(lannisters), and can only hope the whole lot of them dies, as for the tyrells, who basically are taking overmuch better, still its a bit of an improvement.

I think the Frey's are awesome, and I can't wait to see almost all of them die painfully! There are no "good" people in this medieval world, and the house who accepts that creates the most fun for us to read. I love seeing the Freys do such evil stuff so well, and I'll enjoy reading them suffer for it later, too.

You can't define good without evil, and I can't wait to see the survivors of the Frey house rebuild themselves and start anew as the source of ultimate evil in whatever world arises at the end of this one. (F house Lannister, they're going to be completely wiped out in the end).

And as to Tom 0', I think he got sick of Stoneheart (who's really Catlyn with bald spots and bad breath) and decided it was a step up to hang out with the Freys. That's just my 2 cents.

In truth, I wonder what juicy stuff he finds out as a spy and then passes along. And will they catch him? We could get his POV on being tortured.

they are chopping of my foot, the pain is excruciating, so i cannot help but cream .... the pain is constant ....i take a short breath and get myself ready for another one of those long screams wich seem to bring off-chopper a great deal of peasure

after a while he gets delirious and starts singing "they are chopping of my foot, and it doesnt feel so good, at least my off-chopper is having a hoot, yeeeessss ,they are choppping of my foot. big toe, small toe , middle toe, off, they go !

We will not be seeing a Frey POV in the future books. There is only one more 'new' POV to come, and that will be in ADWD, which precludes them being a Frey (since ADWD will be set in the far North and the eastern continent, not in the South where the Freys are).

Awesome!

I can practically hear the bones crunching, and feel the heat from his fever...

He also promised us one book, ADWD, and then split it and gave us 2. Rules were made to be broken...anything is possible.

All hail the Freys! Kings of Westeros (for about 20 minutes, then the Others win the fight and the world ends).

I gamble on longshots. Hail the Freys! Then slaughter them slowly and ruthlessly!

(p.s. what's a 'ruth' and why does not having it make you bad?)

Yes, but what about those two little feckers Walder and Walder who were fostered at Winterfell and who appear to have "gone native" and joined Ramsey? Don't think they will get a POV, but they're in the right location.
