Has anyone else come across this one? Though it's a Stephen King it's a children's/young adult book (written especially for his daughter when she was thirteen).

Which isn't to say it's not scary... it is (just in a non-gory sense. Mostly...!).

Personally I think it contains King's best writing ever, and I'm a big fan of him anyway. A thoroughly 'traditional' fairy-tale fantasy that manages to be entirely original at the same time.

Its definately worth a read. If I remember correctly, doesnt our favorite Mr. Flagg make an appearance?

Randall Flagg, the walking dude, the dark man !
Antagonist in King's The Stand. Makes an appearance also in the Dark Tower series.

I have read a couple of his 'adult' books...I just can't imagine him writing for YAs...I would also be interested to know of the age range...

That makes two of us, which is why I'm asking...

Anyone know the age group for this book?

I heard about this book this year and found it in my library. Promptly checked it out and never got around to reading it. I'll have to put it on my list so I remember to get it later when I've got time to read after all the painting and whatnot I'm forced to do these days. I remember that I had found out about it from an author who recommended it - no idea which author but I remember he had good things to say about it.

Hey Alia, I couldnt find any "official" age range, but in perusing reader reviews there were a lot of individuals who read it around age 12.

Hope that helps!

I enjoyed it. It's the only one of his book I didn't find annoying.
