I have Robin Hobb's books on my must read list. Are they any good?

I absolutely adored the Liveship series, couldn't put the third book down as all the action came to the finale. I haven't read the Assassin books yet but will get round to them at some point hopefully.

I am reading Assassin's Quest at the minute and the books have got better and better through the series its just there not as gritty as say David Gemmell, who is a legend when it comes to heroic fantasy.

Hobb's nine book series rates as amongst the most engrossing series I have ever read and I have read quite a few. I still rank it first among my favourites and recommend it to anyone who likes a well thought out series with excellent characterization and a superb plot.

Yes, I think they are worth it, but I could only read them once since they were a bit too sad and bleak for me.

Hobb's books are very readable and enjoyable, although the last one just doesn't make me want to purchase it. Don't ask me why, I just read the blurb and put it back on the shelf. If anyone's read it and enjoyed it, please let me know.

Definitely very readable, even if I don't like Fitz much - far too whiny! That's why I prefer the Liveship Traders, because he isn't in them.

Oh they most definately are, love the Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man series.

I have kinda different question: I'm done with the first trilogy, should I continue it with Liveship Traders or Tawny Man? I'd like to continue with Fitz and Nighteyes. :(

Liveship traders is her best to date. Even though I bought them, I would not recommend the Soldier Son series. It was unique, but I guess I've become used to Martin, Erickson, and Rawn. If I said why, this would be classified as a spoiler. :)

Read Liveship Traders before Tawny man, do not make the mistake I did. It enhances the enjoyment of Tawny Man.
