Petyr Theory

But if he sets her up with Harry the Hier, then kills Harry and marries Sansa, he has how much?

Actually I think Petyr is doing whats best for Petyr....and that is setting himself up to be either a large power behind a new throne or take the throne itself. If his Sansa plan comes to fruition he'll have the backing of Winterfell, Harrenhal, the Eyrie, and the Tyrells....or at least be closely allied to them. I think he's got some end goal he's looking at and is taking steps to ensure the gratitude of as many players as he can.

Look at it this way, he didnt assist the Joffrey killing because he wanted Joff dead, but because of his two options (Joff dead or Joff alive) only one ensures the new ruling power would be particularly indebted to him.....he betrayed Edd for the same reason....Edd wasnt likely to be particularly giving with the favors. So hopefully he'll have his considerable influence behind him, Winterfell and the Eyrie....thatll make him the single most influential noble on the continent.

I'm with Aegon on this. Petyr Baelish's loyalties are only to himself.

I think the kind, trusting, and loving part of him died when Catelyn gave her favor to Brandon. If he truly loved Catelyn (even after Brandon wounded him), why did he spread the tale of taking Catelyn's virginity? If he truly loved her, why did he betray Eddard? If he truly loved her, why does he kiss her daughter? Petyr Baelish might still desire Catelyn, but he ceased to love her long ago.

He might try to fulfill his yearning for Catelyn by taking Sansa as his wife or mistress, but I think he'd rather use her by whatever means to advance his own power. He'll marry her to Harry the heir (very possibly a red herring), marry her to an Umber or Manderly, or keep her as a hidden queen in the Game of Thrones. I doubt he'll allow himself to waste a precious resource just to spite Catelyn's memory by raping or killing Sansa. He does not need to indulge in pleasure... business is pleasure to Littlefinger.

Everything in AFFC shows that he is grooming Sansa as an apprentice of sorts. What's interesting is that her actions indicate that while she might have the smarts, she does not have the callousness to be anything but a pawn; when he realises this, there will be a reckoning.
