AFFC take two

Once I get both books, I'm going to chop the spines off, shuffle the chapters and rebind them into two new volumes.

Seriously.

Crikey. That's going to be over 1600 pages in hardback. You'll need some hardcore specialist professional binding to handle that.

Brienne's chapters in AFFC appear to me to be exactly the same as Arya's in ASOS - wandering around showing us the common folk. As such, it makes no sense to me to criticise them as 'boring' unless you regard Arya's chapters as 'boring' also. I mean, they're even both based around tomboys with swords! ;)

Trey: I think 10 years from now, when someone reads the series for the first time and has AFFC and ADWD available, the "half-book" nature wont be nearly as noticeable.

I absolutely agree. I think the whole 'half-book' thing has been blown out of all proportion.

I stopped about 1/2 the way through and read some other stuff.

Got back to it on Saturday and absolutely devoured the last 1/2.

I've never had a book benefit as much from a second read.

It's really a pretty amazing piece of work.

Maybe someday they'll mix the books together and print them on "Bible" paper.

Weel, we really don't know how smart Brienne is because she's completely delusional, kind of like Sansa until recently. I'm hoping Brienne snaps out of it soon.
The first like to snap is Brienne's neck.

And I'd love to see Martin's Magnum Opus on "Bible" paper... in fact, I'd love Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and Shogun on "Bible" paper.

Pffffffffffft, O.K. Boaz! I get the message! I've caved and ordered it! Now stop bloody mentioning Shogun every other post! :D

F'ing Shogun rocks!

I too will cut and shuffle the 2 after ADWD comes out. I do plan to leave some of the POV sections out though (B's being one of them) so hopefully my new book will come in under 1400.

If you do, you will miss a part of the work, which however unimportant you think it is, will diminish the book by it's absence. I trust GRRM, all of it is important. I bet people didn't think Mrs. O'Leary's cow was very important or relevant either.

well, Im planning on ADDING a few of my own chapters.
This includes "Hot Pies Redemption", "Gregors Secret Love" and "Wont You Come to my Necktie Party" by Cecil Frey.

LOL! 2000 pages, here I come!

I am planning another full series read through starting in the next three months, but when I get to aFfC I plan on creating a timeline so I can mess around with the idea of at least re-reading aFfC and aDwD at the same time in real time continuity.

I can not wait until all of the arguments arise as to which events happened first, second and so on.

Damn, that book needs to come out soon.

yea definitely. Dose anyone have an accurate date on when its comming out? I remember it said next year at the end of AFFC so will it be out around December?

No, don't hold your breath for a 2006 release. The best we can hope for is a Spring 2007 release. Werthead knows all this stuff...

I wonder if GRRM will do like JK Rowling and release it on 7-7-7. :D

Who's reading it by the way? Is it George himself?

EDIT: And have you noticed any particular pronunciations?

No, Roy Dotrice reads AGOT and ACOK and he is very good.

The only ones that stood out were Petyr (peh-tar') which I heard was a mistake and Catelyn (cat'-ah-lin) which I always though was cate'-lyn. Ive heard (cat'-ah-lin) directly from GRRM's mouth so I know thats right. The rest were no surprise.
