I'm finding reading Hobb at the moment is almost like taking a backward step. What I mean by that is; it seems like redundant fantasy compared to Martin, Erickson and Abercrombie.
Authors of that particular ilk.
I find it less enthralling because of its realiability on cliches and mannered dynamics.
I enjoyed the Assassin trilogy but inbetween that and the Tawny Man I seem to have lost any appreciation for her style of writing.
I feel like I've lost or am losing out on this particular approach to the genre simply because the more aggressive and realistic fantasy seems to have a firmer grip on my sensibilities.
Has any one else had this particular experience?
