Space Monkey grew out of Serpent's Lair when Jack calls Daniel 'Space monkey' at the end of the ep and rubs him on the head.

Well, I don't know if Jack meant it in the episode but I found a great quote about space monkeys from Fight Club that seems to apply to Daniel in the ep:
"Like a monkey ready to be shot into space. Space Monkey. Ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good."

Oh, and I agree that Teal'c's tattoo wouldn't be a big deal if anyone saw it. I've seen much weirder things. :)

Well it's certainly apropo. You're right. Jack could have been thinking about the chimp that went up. They're kinda cute, like Daniel.
