If you are one of these unfortunate people who only gets to watch syndicated stargate which I think is into series 2? then moderate this place! You can get together with the UK Channel 4 chappy who is in the same situation as you. Cool hey!

Hello :)
I'm one of those unfortunate people, and I tell you it stinks. Anyways, a question, will Fox continue to air all the season 2 episodes in order until...whenever? Do you guys know when the people in syndication land will get season 3?

Sean3w

Why is it that people in Europe get the videos before Americans but then see the shows before Europeans?

Padders

You mean after I assume?
Yes it is weird. I can not understand why we get all the dvds before you guys do, it is strange but i aint complaning.

Normally, we are not so far behind on the episodes and fof a few eps in season 3 we were actually ahead of you. I think the way it works on showtime is they play some of the new episodes and then perhaps have a weak break and show a repeat? is that the case?. On Sky One they will not do that just showing one ep each wednesday until the end of the season. It is likely we will get near to catching you up i think by the end of the season.

You can still get the R2 DVDs if you want, it is very easy to mod your player to play them and most uk based dvd sellers will ship em to you (some for free p&p as well).

Unfortunately just modifying the player won't work. Your have to have a multi-region TV as well.

Last year season 2 started in September so I would imagine that it will start then again for season 3. They kinda ran in order, kinda. <G>

US Syndication is in Season 3.
Week of: 7/29 In the Line of Duty
Week of: 8/5 Prisoners
Week of: 8/12 The Gamekeeper
Week of: 8/19 Need
Week of: 8/26 Thor's Chariot
Week of: 9/2 Message In A Bottle

Those aren't the actual dates that they are shown (except in my area), but if you check the week that includes those dates in your area, you'll find them.

Cheers,

Stargate is on fox? I only know of it in syndication on one channel and it's UPN.

MythingLink, i am not sure but do not think that is correct.
par example: for a computer most dvd drives are only software single region. You can just get any bit of software of the net and play any regions no problem. I have seen this done.

In the UK many dvd players come multi region or you can do a simple crack to make them that way (software). Now this seems to work for most people to play region 1 (us disks). Now we use PAL and you guys use NYSTC (something like that anyway). I know some of our teles now play both but I wonder if it is the DVD that can play both. Anyway, you may find that your tele can now play pal as well (possible).

I will look into this more as it affects the competition.

Multi Region DVD's and VCR's cost a whole bunch of mula over here. It's annoying. My VCR doesn't come with MR but my computer does. Thank you God. Now all I have to do is get those European DVD's. Only 435 more posts and Padders is sending me a free one.

MythingLink

Pretty sure. The DVD or VCR just sends the signal to the viewer (the TV). The TV has to be able to translate that signal into picture and sound. Simple explanation, but it was the way it was explained to me.

Sorry that's not the way it works. I'll find the urls to the sites that explain this in more detail and then post it here.

Yup, some VCRs and DVD players handle multi-region format, but the TV also has to be able to handle those formats as well.
World Gift Center: http://www.world-import.com/ look under DVD's [ code
free DVD players].

Signal converters can start at $250 and go up to $900. Multi-region TVs are priced around $100+ more than regular.

Also in 'code free DVD players' are illegal to purchase in the US. Be warned.

Well that is me to a tee! I'm just dying here as they rerun and rerun season 2 with no particular order! Don't get me wromg, I love season 2 but why show the same 7 or 8 eps all the time? And why out of order? If they are going to show season 2 eps, at least run them in order for crying out loud! I'm missing some eps and It's taken me all spring and summer just to get to Gamekeeper (that is showing next week)
*sighs* I also wish if they are going to wait until September to show season 3, they would go back to airing season 1 eps (in order)so I can get the eps I need from that season too! NOt to mention putting it on at a decent hour! It's on here at 11:00pm on a Sunday night and 2:00am Monday morning! Basically it sucks!

All we have here in the states (or at least where I am) is the DVD and video of COTG. If I had my way, I'd have all of the eps in my video collection! But alas, I don't get my way very often!

any of you can of course watch any region dvd on a computer with dvd player.
this brings me back to mythinglink:

i understand what you are saying about tele's and them having to decode the signal but, what about computer monitors then? how does it work with them. You can lob in any old dvd drive and with the correct software program it will play any region.?

I am going to set up a stargate merchandise forun now :)

It may not seem that way, but they actually do show them in order with each one being repeated about 3 times. Gamekeeper was first aired the week of 10/9/99, again on 12/25/99, and this week.
I've got the complete schedule for this season and there is a pattern, it's just a little difficult to describe (which makes it a kind of strange pattern ).

Cheers,
