3.21: Crystal Skull

I love the scene in the infirmary, when Jack falls out of the bed and Teal'c picks him up and tosses him back on the bed.

My son and I started laughing and we missed the next scene. When the show was over I had to rewind the tape to see it.

This actor who plays Nick - Jan Rubes, his name sound Czech to me. Does anybody know something about him? I found only his filmography at IMDb.

I don't know. I've seen him before but can't remember in what and I've never really been able to find any bio material on him.

Cheers,

Thanks, ML.
As far as I remember, I've seen him when he was kid in the film Journey (I think, that it was the name of the film). It's the film from 1950 (or maybe 1949?).

kel sha,

this ep was the most time quite boring but the idea of the phase inversion (so that u can't see anyone in the opposite phase) was quite good ..

and there was a scene in the medical station when jack wants to arise and Teal'c warns him to stay in bed -- and then he fall down ... it was very cool -- haven't i seen right or was there a laugh while / after jack falls from Teal'c ??

My mom, who just recently got interested in stargate, so loved this ep. and made me play it like three times in the same night. I couldn't believe it--though not really complaining. Not sure, but i think it has something to do with Daniel...strange. why on Earth would anyone in their right mind like that man? (wink wink)

Um, hope you could tell i was being sarcastic about Dannyboy, there. don't want to get beat up by any Danny fans. Please, show mercy.

No need to grovel and beg, Sandman......... much..........

I like this one too. There's something so sad about poor Daniel trapped and no one can hear him..... must've been his own version of hell.... he can talk all he wants, but no one hears him.

I love the scene where he's pearched way on top of all the equipment, like a guardian angel, listening to Janet say how she located Nick .. "oh, no, you didn't". .. Just too bad the effects in the pyramid weren't up to par.

Napoleonic power monger, lol.

Well, at the beginning, Daniel referred to the pyramid as being similar to the Mayan or Aztec pyramids in Central America.
Having watched it again yesterday, I am fairly sure when the "alien" starts speaking, he introduces himself as Quetzacoatl, though Daniel for once doesn't make a big fuss of the "head of a real earth religion" type thing as he sometimes does - perhaps they are expecting more people to have heard of him...

[sfx: running downstairs, fast forwarding DVD and turning on subtitles, running back upstairs]
Okay - the subtitles confirm the name is Quetzlcoatl, and that the alien speaks Mayan. :p

My comments;
a) as usual, how come someone who is out of phase, or wathever, that can walk through walls, always walks ON the ground
b) the cavern for most of shots looks shakily like the CGI it is
c) we must assume the alien sent them back into phase?
d) so do we get to see Nick again - perhaps something to come back to in series 6?

the producers to the show will have to get back to you on that one :D :D :D

Funnily enough, whilst we Reetou are out of phase with your own matter, we can still interact. We are therefore invisible, but very solid if you were to try to touch us. We can also walk on your floor.

Crystal Skull

This is an old espisode but i have a question. Are the aliens that sg-1 is transported to see ever mentioned again? And is daniel's grandfather ever mentioned again? Because i would think that these aliens would become good allies of Earth.

In general, (wherever this thread ends up :D), the people we meet in an episode are left alone after that. Well, probably more are never seen again than re-appear. I think. Hmmm - time for statistical analyis I think...

I talked to Jan Rubes, the actor, whitch played Nicolas Ballard (and he is Czech, as me ;-)

...so, Rubes said that producers are goin' to make another episode with "giants" and him, but in spoils for 7 season, there is NO Nic Ballard ;-(

A bit of housekeeping ...

Two threads have been merged on this topic.

Someone mentioned earlier, the fact that Daniel could pass through walls, but didn't fall through the floor... I noticed something rather interesting...

After Nick has been showed to his room in the SGC, I'm sure Daniel is leaning aginst the wall! I don't have it on video, so I can't double check, but it looked like he was.

Just looking at the DVD:

In the interview room at the pysch hospital, Daniel definitely DOES look like he's leaning on the wall in the corner.

When Nick is taken to the SGC, and is shown the skull in the lab, when Daniel enters he stands with his left arm laid on the top of a PC monitor.

Shortly afterwards, as Sam and Jack enter the lift (and think he may be around) Daniel stands leaning against the wall.

Finally, yes, as you say, as Teal'c shows Nick to his VIP room, Daniel is standing against the wall.

I just watched this ep for the first time, and I found it to be an enjoyable ep, even in my half-asleep state :) A lot of the points brought up make a lot of sense...Daniel leaning against the wall being the main one I'm wondering about. And the walking on the ground thing, although it would have been just *slightly* strange if Daniel fell through the ground to the centre of the earth after he fell back from being engulfed in that radiation thing :D Maybe it's best he stayed on firm ground!

Gotta love that infirmary scene with Jack calling Janet a Napoleonic Powermonger, then falling out of bed, and then Teal'c picking him up and just dumping him back! Plus Daniel's comments to Rothman.

'That's it Rothman, be skeptical...no, not that skeptical!' And just Daniel's comments the whole way through, I thought they were delivered in a really funny way.

Okay, this turned out way longer than I expected, so I'll end there!
