Jack in Season 4 - attitude

no time to post at the mo but good Jack/Danny moments in Season 5

First of all I am a shipper. I don't c y stuff changed. The feelings were there b4 and were v. obv. 2 sum people but since the confession, noromos have noticed them 2, that's all. I personally think that season 1 was the shippiest season.

Poss. spoilers

COTG: The briefing room scene.
The Enemy Within: The hostage/lift scene.
Emancipation: The dress scene (among others)
The Broca Divide: The infamous Locker Room scene!!!!
The First Commandment: The gate fight scene
Singularity: The penultimate scene & the last one with Cassie in the park.
Solitudes: The whole ep!!!!
TB4TGOG: The Hug scene
Politics: The 'Engaged!?!' scene

There...... I think I proved my point! And there r probably more coz I haven't seen all of season 1.

I totaly agree with you, shippers forever:blush:

I LIKED Jack's attitude in Season 4 when he had to deal with Marina Sirtis and the Russian's screwup with their Stargate! :D

hey, you've got a Jack/Sam tender moment in that one when Jack wishes them luck, mmmmmm, scrumpsious:rolly2: Oh & watched some more season 5, don
t worry, great Jack/Danny moments:freak4:

I have been reading some really disturbing posts to different mailing lists about Jack and how his character has changed in Season 4. The majority of it deals with his relationship with Carter and how it is affecting the other members of the team. The latest has to do with his behaviour in Point of No Return towards Daniel. I'm not intimating that I either agree with or don't agree with these opinions. I would like to hear what others here have to say.

The second thing that has been batted around is that when Jack finds Carter and Daniel tied up in the warehouse, Carter is obviously alive because she's moving around. Daniel, however, is slumped over in his seat not moving. Yet when Jack approaches, he goes first to Carter and doesn't even talk to Daniel or check to see that he is alright. Some find this incredibly disturbing and they are commenting that if they were Daniel, they would transfer off of the team because it is showing definite favoritism. I honestly don't think this is anything I would have noticed if it weren't for Divide and Conquer and the others who have made this comment are honest enough to say the same, but now that we do know that there are 'feelings' running around out there, people are starting to notice little things like this and commenting on them negatively. I know of at least one person who isn't crying because she's going to be missing the next several episodes. I've also heard that some people are even becoming to dislike Jack and Carter because of this relationship angle and feel like TPTB have pushed a little too hard in bringing this out.

I am really concerned that we've all become to overly sensatized to this relationship thing and that it is clouding our perceptions of the characters. I'll be the first here to admit that it clouds mine. I can't look at the characters in quite the same way - all of them and it's really spoiling quite a few of the episodes for Season 4 for me. Especially when I see episodes like Beneath the Surface and see it as an episode made just so that the relationship angle can be explored some more.

I'm taking a deep breathe and I've decided I'm not going to get involved in the should they or shouldn't they of the whole thing. I'm going to try to enjoy the show for the reasons that I had when I first started watching it.

However I am interested and will comment on what is happening as far as character interaction is concerned. Now if that makes sense to anyone but me, I'll be surprised.

Buddy,

I believe that you've taken this stargate blown it out of proportion. Look at this message. Its detailed, accurate, and really obbessive. I too am an optimist, but am reading your message and doubting your sanity :)

Either (a) you're genuinely concerned with the intricate makings of stargate or (b) you've too make episodes of stargate on your harddrive :)

My recommendation is that you turn off your computer for 3 days. Relax, no tv, no nothing. Lie down in bed and think about other things than a computer or the last episode of stargate, voyager, or Macgyver.

No offence intended, I'm just concerned for your well being :)

Please follow my instruction. My girlfriend told me to do this once, look at me now! Thank's to her, I'm a sane historian ready to listen, learn, and teach!

All the best,

I keep telling you guys it's just a t.v. show, but no one listens to me. :D

what's your point? Everyone knows that what you see on TV must be the truth! hee hee:rolly2:

Oh how could you????

All my hopes and dreams dashed...I thought it was all real... *sob*
This is harder then when I was told Father Christmas wasn't real......

;) :D :rolly2:

Hey Skydiver I totally agree with your earlier comments and about the whole chivalry thing, my dad said exactly the same thing. As we have seen, O'Neill is very protective of kids and so therefore this would naturally lead to his protection of women too, would it not? (He's an old fashioned kinda guy like Riley on Buffy, only Jack is way nicer than Riley of course!) Anyway, even if there had been no ep. D&C then there's still the issue of the whole guy/girl thing whereby people just assume that a guy and a girl can't just be friends, they have to b sumthing more. Speaking as a girl I know that this is not true on my part and I'm sure I can say the same 4 the guys so why does evry1 think this? The answer is that I don't have a clue. Maybe it's the 'hopeless Romantic' in us all or sumthing?!? Neway that's just my POV on the subject.

I think the raeson Jack's attitude towards Danny has changed because the Daniel has changed. He no longer needs Jack to help him out. He has been in enough difficult situations to know what Jack now expects of him. The J/D moments are still there. What about when Jack thinks he is going to die in Divide and Conquer. Beautiful moment!

I also agree with skydiver on the chivalry thing. Jack's chivalrous attitude has been there from the first time he and Sam stepped through the stargate in Children Of The Gods. I still believe that he has the best interests of his entire team at heart.

As for Teal'c's sense of humour, I've never quite understood the term British Humour. Being a Scot I know that we don't always have the same sense of humour as the english (Who finds the Royle Family even remotly funny?) But Teal'c is developing a very dry and underplayed sense of humour what is marvellous to watch.

What a great show! We will miss the J/D moments for sure. Not many people support Michael Shanks decision, but I do. I believe that people have the right to make their own decisions. Sure, it may cause some problems for the story in the near future, but look at the brighter side of things. NEW SPICE to the cast. Its season one all over again! I love it!

Totally agree with you...Im very sad to see Michael go and being a big fan of Danny I am bound to miss him although I would feel the same if it was any of the other cast members..

But totally agree about the whole surporting his decision...as I feel its what the guy really wants to do..so Im happy if thats what he wants as you say its his decision and I also feel people have the right to make their own decisions.
Im also kinda looking forward to seeing what is going to happen and how the 'new guy' is going to do in the show!

 :D

Wow...... this is so surreal! LOL

What started off as a serious question about whether the character of Jack had changed and the impact on the show has now become yet another commentary on Michael Shanks and his decision to leave the show.

Will some PLEASE tell me what it is about this guy that allows him to intrude on every single thread in some shape, form or other?

I don't think that Jack has changed all that much..... and most of the S & J shipper moments that people nurture so tenderly went completely over my head. To such an extent that at first I was heard to ask in bewilderment "Romance? What romance?"

Maybe his attitude towards Daniel has actually changed, but then so had Daniel's attitude towards Jack. He was more prone to overtly criticising Jack's decisions and actions towards the end than he was at the beginning.

Not really wanting to go into detail on this thread because as you have pointed out we are in the Jack forum posting about Michael Shanks but I feel that its a big thing that one of the main cast have left and thats why it gets talked about in so many threads and I also feel and hope that it would be the same if any of the other guys were leaving...but aside from that..

I like you don't feel that Jack has changed all that much..he does get a little siller in a few episodes but thats what makes him Jack ;)
As for the shipper moments...well Im not that fussed on them..I think from read and seeing different interviews that AT and RDA were keen to not have as many in future seasons and Im kinda glad that there were not too many after those episodes in season 4 as thats not really what Stargate is all about..although I do kinda like them once in a while.

Hey, I'm new on this thread, but I'd just like to say that shippiness is good and all, I like it, but if the show became too focused on their relationship it would really suck! It would be nice though is it was all tied up by the end of the series.

Just my 1 1/2 cents:cool:
