Ideas for Series 5 episodes?

Time travel.. um, do they need it. They can already travel across the universe, to alternate dimensions as well. Do they really need time travel.

There are so many problems with time travel. (Time travel and invisibility are two of the favourite sci-fi topics that just have some many flaws in them). I really am not sure about the whole idea. I wish i knew some more of the science behind time though ...

Yeah, I hear ya about the complexities of trying to do stories on time travel and invisibility. I must admit, I do love the new "Invisible Man" series - it's pretty impressive. SG-1 does not need to travel through time, I just love that aspect of sci fi. Granted, it's been done to death, but not on Stargate yet. I don't know much about the science myself, but I remember having it explained to me once that it would be more possible to travel back in time because it would involve capturing energy that had already been expended. Traveling into the future would cause a whole different set of problems.

Yeah they have been through to alternate dimensions and time travelled a lot- 1969 (twice

Upcomming S4
Dammit this does not seem like a lot anymore.....

hehe,

Time travel...

Well future i don't think makes much sense how you could travel into the future as you would sort of make a loop on what is going to happen. Think about it, if you are in the future and say your "alternate self"??? is there, then your actions there must alter that person somehow? Basically, if you can travel into the future for me it suggests that everything is pre determined.

In the end the whole idea of time travel does seem to suggest this, that whatever happens will happen eventually however time travel alters it to get it to the state it is. Things like for example in ST voyager where Voyager caused the electronics revolution. Um... but somehow the world had to get based electronics without Voyagers intervention to let Star Trek come into existince. In lots of these films they suggest that "people" can experience differen time realities or something but actual planets etc don't seem to and always get affected by it... um..not making much sense here.

But then time is not really something that is such a special thing. It is simply another dimension of our universe and i wonder if it really is that different to length etc.. maybe it is just our perception of it that matters and makes it "feel" different.. i don't know.

Yeah, i suppose it does kinda 'cross over' with some other theories but it's Stargate! Anything can happen on Stargate....

I remember watching some Star Trek eps that where quite similar to Stargate eps....

I'm a big Star Trek fan as well. Yeah, I remember some original Trek eps similar to Stargate. There was one where Kirk, McCoy and Scotty became old men and Brief Candle where Jack O'Neill ages, also Holiday where Daniel switches with Machello. Then the one where the crew of the Enterprise encounters a God, Apollo (okay, Greek God there, not Egyptian). There were several Treks where the crew were held prisoner, and several Gates like that too. I'm too tired to think of all the others right now.

Too tired? Why it's only 10:30 in the morning? :) While i'm on the matter Wednesday is a pretty dull day weather wise, sleep in.....

I remember a 'time loop' episode and an episode when one of the members could not be seen by the other members (Like in Crystal skull) Sorry but i do not know characher names....

10:30 in the morning? Not here in New York - it's 9:10 on Tuesday night. Anyway, yeah, you're right about those episodes - a time loop one and one in which Captain Kirk could not be seen by the rest of the crew on Trek because he had been "sped" up and was moving much faster than everyone else, or something like that.

Time travel is an interesting concept just to speculate on. Whether it's feasible, I'll leave that up to the people who get paid the big bucks to figure those things out. The only thing I remember from a science class I took back in the day of the dinosaurs was that time is a constant and that we measure it by destruction.

Cheers,

multiple but slightly vague spoilers up to season 4 ahead

as to the trek thing: shades of grey was similar to the enterprise incident, crystal skull was similar to the next phase, window of opportunity was similar to conundrum(i think, either that or clues, can't remember which), the first ones reminded me or darmok, 100 days reminded me of the kirk/mirimani one, the broca divide was sorta similar to the naked time plus the tng remake, scorched earth was slightly similar to up the long ladder...and there are more but it's late here...how about a tribbles one? huh, if they really wanna have fun let's have the sgc over run by furry things.

personally i'd like to see them kick some gao'uld butt, have a tok'ra exchange officer(just not tok'ra spice, i'm beggin ya), and how about just some garden variety, tree-ingested planets to explore?

these links are inevitable. Seen some between it and farscape as well. Upgrades springs to mind. Then there is (was the ep bounty hunter? well you know what i mean), well

SPOILER FOR THAT EP

him and drug addiction have links to star trek and the dominion as well. Lots of it going on :)

i have a suggestion; SGC have a difference of opinion with the asgard and SGC must turn to Apophis for help. but its all a trick to get apophis (just like maybourne i hear but have not seen) And the Tokra helps Apophis and the link with the tokra will end with the sgc and Jacob Carter plays a big role in tricking his daughter Samantha or jacob defies the tokra. A twisting episode like that would be nice.

Okay, yeah that's a good idea but where would they find Apohpis?
There are a lot of episodes with twists in S4!
I think we need another mission to Chulak or Abydos myself! And what about Rya'C he is still around isn't he? Maybe he should live on earth?

I like the idea of Jacob trying to either trick the Tok'ra or trying to trick Sam. Be an interesting test to see if the host has any power at all.

ooh, sam angst..goodie. a good old fashioned tok'ra rebellion would be nice...you know maybe not all tok'ra are really the good guys they pretend to be.

Hmm.... I think we need a good old fashioned "Goauld butt kickin" episode.....

I have read a review in an upcomming episode where SG-1 Gate to A Goa'uld pleasure palace? Maybe we can kick sum butt in this ep?

I think we need to teach them a lesson about not jerking us around every opportunity they get. They've gotten too comfortable with their chosen idea that we are to be used as their guinea pigs (see Anise) whenever they choose to use us as cannon fodder.

See my other idea under "Sam".
