Other aliens and Earth

heh,
Tell me how does a thread know to go onto anoither page? Is it by length or posts?

when it hits 25 posts, i think 25 is the number i set it up as.

Okay, tell me can you track how many 'words' someone has posted throughout there entire ascifi posting career?

MAN U PPL TYPE ALOT!*some spoilers*
any way i find that some of the "aliens" have helped us but as jack says about the tokra (exuse the language) they royaly sruwe us every time! well not really they have helped us like in show & tell.
the askgards (lol) hlep us & we help them only i do think that it sortta odd that they needed some one stupider then them to stop the "bugs" (lol)they may have come to the right place 4 that! do you all think that sam was the right person 4 the job?

I think she was a good choice because the Asgard are used to thinking that they are more powerful and advanced than their enemies. So when they are faced with an enemy that uses their tech against them they don't know how to handle it.

And humans on Earth are used to thinking strategy and tactics more, like we can't just go and zap all the Goa'uld on a planet at once like the Asgard did. We have to outsmart them.

!!!!YEA!!!!!
STUPID PPL ROCK!
VIVE LA STUPIDITE!
now this prves that the extrem smart ppl aren't cool they don't think right :) :) :p :p

hehe, i will have to tell that to the far far far to clever people here at uni :)

do you really think that the asgard would not be able to work it out though? I am not convinced that this use of technology larky really means they can't do lateral thinking. To come up with new technology you have to do laternal thinking, that is basically how you invent stuff! I thinkg the asgard would have worked it out and would think they would do quite easily, not exactly very hard. Now the goa'uld they probably woulnd't because they are not used to working stuff out for themselves. So my theory, plot a bit flawed, asgard would have got it !

humans not better that goa'uld ..

don't think tau'ri are better than the goa'uld ...
the goa'uld take hosts to survive 'cos the symbionde can't survive without a host) but tau'ri travel to a lot of other worlds and show the natives some modern things, so they disturb their naturally evolution ..
in some episodes they take natives for a ride such as the episode with the Salish indians ... they would heve stolen the some resources of the planet but fortunately the "gods" of the salish prevented the tau'ri from this ...

so i think goa'uld are not worse than tau'ri ... goa'uld are brutal but they only take a host to survive ....

I think there is a fundamental difference between enslaving a population and disrupting their natural evolution.

That episode they were going to take the mineral (season 1 i think) was a mistake and i think something they learnt from (episode 402, can't remember name, sorry!).

Goa'uld do need hosts to survive but at one point they must not have. They made the leap so take hosts. Also, how about a non-sentient animal. They could live in a cow for example (now that would be funny!).

Dont say that about Gou'alded Cows :) I live in the country and am surrounded by them....your gonna make me paranoid :)

I thought there was something strange about the KFC that we brought home the other night. ;)

Cheers,

Yeah I can just imagine a cow or chicken with glowing eyes. But in the stargate movie it said that Ra searched the galaxy for a host for the Goa'uld. Even though they had the Unas as hosts. So maybe they need to have a specific species as hosts. I wonder if they would be able to take a Nox or Asgard as a host?

well no because:

1) We don't take people as slaves
2) We want technology for defense not offense (if we attack the goa'uld that is a defensive pre emptive strike)

of course some will want technology for bad reasons (profit?) but i think generally we are nicer than the goa'uld. Of course i think we could find some perfectly good examples of people who would fit a goa'uld lifestyle perfectly !

1) we don't make slaves ?????

i didn't think so ... go back a few years in our time and u'll find black slaves in the US or american indian slaves in the US too ... and in europe there were also red and black slaves ...

and today, in some countries are people enslaved ..

so what make the tau'ri so much better than the goa'uld ??

the goa'uld take a host to survive , the tau'ri took that slaves to had a more convenient life !!!!

2) u really think that the US want defensive weapons ???
i don't think so ... it would be very dangerous if any alien race (e.g. tollans) would give the US for example the ion gun ... 'cos they could take control over the human world with this technology ...

Geronimo makes some good points however I tend to believe humans are basically good (but the rottens ones make up for their numbers with deeds, unfortunately).

Besides....what makes a weapon 'defensive'. Even a forcefield could be used offensively (like crushing an enemy between two fields)

for example:

a A-bomb or a H-bomb are offensive weapons (they can't be used for only defensive ...) ..

a turret or a fixed gun at a definite place or are for example only defensive guns ..

but if they U.S. would have the chance to destroy the goa'uld or other races i think they would do to decrease the danger of an offensive action of this race ..
it is safe but it is not correct ..

P.S.: not only the U.S. ....

there are much other countries which would do that, i don't want to indicate only the U.S. as offensive nation :)

It all depends on how you define deffensive and offensive.
Eg. An atom bomb can be a defensive weapon by destroying your enemy (or potential enemy) so that they can't attack you.
