would be very interesting on which voltage (AC/DC and value), current, frequency,.. the stargate ?

and what kind of motor is the moving part of the stargate (asynchronous motor, DC - motor, ...) ...

Wastn't there something in the film about it being AC or DC. Oh no, i think there was something about it in "Tormet of Tantulus" and wastn't it Catherine's idea when she was a young girl to change it from alternating to direct? Can't really remember i must admit.

I always thought it was duracell (they zap and zap and zap and zap and zap) bunny batteries. (please tell me everyone gets that advertising)!

you don't have the durcal bunny adverts that "go on and on and on and on and on?" arr.....

uk people will know what i mean!

OKay a serious question :)
Would a staff weapong ever run out og 'charges'?

yes. must do somehow. Can't get energy from nowhere for ever. (unless it has its own little fusion reactor in there :) )

Padders we have got the bunny adds, and i believe that the Ghaould would have to some how recharge them but Teal'c never does any thing to his staff weapon in any episode but shoot it.

Go back to The Fifth Race ... the Staff Weapons use naquadah. It probably does run out at some point and a new 'cell' must be inserted. I'm guessing since the naquadah container can be removed. It not only stores energy but releases it.

Cheers,

muzungu

If they did not have naquadah they would have to use another form of power storage or generation like vacuum energy.

You are correct about that. that was to prevent the charge from bouncing back and destroying the generator.

if this were the case, granted that many worlds contain naquadah (except Earth o_O), many of the Goa'uld mines now appear abbandoned or inactive. Does this mean that naquadah mines are exhaustable just like coal mines on Earth, and if that is the case, why is it that they haven't run out yet, they must have lasted several melenia (spelling?) from the time of the ancients to now ...... Assuming that it hasn't already run out, will it run out in the future and does that mean the collaspe of stargate technologies across the galaxy (and/or beyond) meaning the collaspe of the false gods ?

<just thinking out loud> :)

I know they sort of refer to the little glow-worm thingy from the staff weapon as an energy module or similar, but do they ever actually say it is (presumably processed) naquadah? Otherwise, as pointed out later, there must still be huge naq. mines all over the place, such as that on Abydos.

PS. If an earth team wanted to mine trinium on the Saylish planet, wouldn't they also want to get loads of naq. which seemed techincally to be much easier on Abydos, especially since the locals no longer have to mine it for Ra?

PPS. What are the socio-economic side effects of effectively now having the majority of the Abydos population unemployed, even if they were "employed" as slaves previously?
