How many Europeans are here?

Hey, another austrian!
Welcome to the boards. From where are you exactly?
I'm from Vienna (well, originally Bregenz/Vorarlberg, but studying in Vienna) :D :D

Just to make the record straight from the start, Narim is the sole property of mine soooooo, you might have his name but...he's safely stowed away in my closet...:D

oh, but I'm Canadian though Mum is British & dad was German...Narim is STILL mine, ask anyone, they'll tell you....;)

:D I know, just making sure this new narim person knows it!:D

No problem, Skoon, we all know who Narim belongs...lol
And will help you defend him in case somebody hasn't noticed your...erm...subtle attempts at bringing this little fact to our attention...LOL :D :D

Welcome Sammy! :p

Huhu!

Hi summershake!

Oh boy! Took me quite a while to post a reply here...phew!
You know what? I'll probably...maybe...oh-I-don't-know-yet study in Vienna too next year. For the moment I attend the 8th form of the gymnasium here. 'Here', this is where I live: Steyr, Upper Austria. Maybe you heard of it once. It's a beautiful little city in the foothills of the Alps with a famous pilgrimage church...lol - I just got to mention that :)

Of course I know Bregenz, but I've never been there. How is it like? Do you like to study in Vienna? Maybe you could help me a bit to make my desicion, cause I'm still unsure either to go to Vienna or Granz...*broods*

See you all!

Carter :rolly2:

Hey Carter!

I've been to Steyr, it's really beautiful.
It was great to grow up in Bregenz...you gotta love the Bodensee (Lake of Constance...lol)!!! ;)
But now that I'm 23 it's just fun to live in Vienna to study. I was thinking about going to Innsbruck instead, but Vienna is just so great, a really cool City. It can be very modern, but it never lost it's romantic flair.
Do you know what you want to study at university already?
I chose Vienna because I'm doing psychology --- so it wasn't that hard a choice...lol

Hi again

HI!

Yes, I got the same impression when I've been to Vienna a few months ago. I love all the beautiful buildings, the castles and the parks. And there's always something to do :)
I don't know exactly yet what I want to study. I thought about history, archeology, antroplogy,...and some things more. Maybe something concerning languages as I love to make up the meaning of words by comparing it to other languages I know...may sound weird but so it is LOL

Greetings from Steyr to Vienna,
Carter

Doesn't sound weird at all! ;)
I thought about doing languages but in the end I didn't...:D
Are you in your final year doing your graduation?

Hi ya!

Yes, I am in the last year.
:) I'm thinking about doing languages at the moment. I've been through al sorts of ideas. Don't know what I'll be doing...but I'm curious what it will be in the end!!

You've attended a gymnasium too, haven't you? Which typ of Matura did you choose?

:rolly2: Bye for now. Gotta go to bed *g*

Hi!

I attended a normal AHS...chose 'neusprachlich'.
So I had english, french, spanish and latin...ugh! lol :D ;)
But I'm glad for it now...it's so much easier to learn a new language (esp. if it's latin-based) when you have the advantage of knowing latin...:p

Since I didn't know what to do for a living if I chose to study languages I decided to go for psychology...film/tv/advertisment always interested me a great deal and it's all based on psychology and cultural codes. That's the direction I chose...:D ;)

Hi!

Sounds good. Psychology is quite interesting. Had it in school for one year (only). I chose neueprachlich too. But I 'only' have German, English, Italian and Latin.

You're absolutly right. If you know Latin all the other romanesque languages become deffinitly easier to learn.
The similarities are quite often funny. (e.g. the words for 'sleeping' in italian, latin, spanish and french are nearly the same)

Like I said. I love to play with those kind of things!!!

See ya,
Carter
