well, i don't have a problem with france, never been there.
if you want underdeveloped, try driving across wyoming. 200 miles between highway exits cause there's nothing there but sagebrush and antelope.

anyway, i sorta wonder if sam married joe, well probably cause he was nice and charming and ...tick, tock, her biological clock was ticking and she realized if she didn't start a family soon she wouldn't be able too.
and i also think it had something to do with the sgc being exposed and most of the armed forces being decommissioned...she was probably cut loose, had nothing else to do, he asked and she thought to make a grab for happiness while she could.

i think jack would run away. more out of disgust than anything else. from what i understand he'd been against the aschen from the beginning and no one would listen to him...after a while he'd just get so frustrated he'd say to heck with it and leave.

and, well me persoanlly, i just watched absolute power, and without spoiling it here, isn't aldwin the dishiest tokra around?

The French...I always say anyone who has as many political parties as they do cheeses has got to be good! African-Americans in France always were treated better than the US did at certain times. And I think of Josephine Baker, Lena Horn, Earth Kitt, Louis Armstrong just to name some that you might have heard of. Most of the French people I have met here have been kind and considerate and interested as well as interesting. People are people, good and bad intermixed, so until I know differently I'll stick to my opinion... Good people, good cheese, interesting politics,
good music some very nice champagne, fascinating history and prehistory!

Back to the subject of 2010, I still think this was the way the writers could get in different character reactions. But I bet Jack didn't get really disgusted until the Achen offed Hammond... both seem to have deep suspicions of them that proved correct. But only one was listened to in high places and killed for that.

i still think that jack wouldn't leave without "cleaning the air" with everyone, i can't imagine the regrets he must have.
and yeah i think that sam married joe because he was the only guy available, the only who hadn't a "commanding officer : don't touch" sign on his face.. and she must have thought about her biological clock too i agree with it.

I know very little about the Alcase/Lorraine region of France except the Germans snatched it from the French because of the great natural resources in that area, Joan of Arc was born there and your mother was born there.

Eventually you will become an advanced member by posting and before that you will get your alien baby and you can peek into the alien thread in General Discussion Section and hopefully join in there.

Jack and Sam wrestled in Season 1 in Broca's Divide in the shower. And will have a little tussle in "The Light" season 4.

In 2010 the did it with words. I think Jack's position was so against the lets love the aliens ~ the Achen are great attitude that he and the rest of the team split over it. I really think it was nasty to Kinsey to use "Jacks' Preliminary Report's words" against him when Kinsey was congratulatingthe team about the Achen/Earth alliance. I still think Hammond and Jack were not happy with the government stand on the treaty with the Achen and that Hammond was quieter but that didn't save him at all. Jack's real stand was covered up. And the government kept covering it us...RE: Kinsey's statement. So, of course, Jack had a lot to be unhappy about!

Soooo stillzen got an infatuation with Martouf (and sam) huh? Well i hope they bring him back (but somehow i doubt it due to the fact that they had that aldwyn guy in Absolute power)

It'd be good to see sam lay a couple of hard ones on Jack just to be different. but being a huuuuuuge sam and jack fan anything between sam and another man is against me (2010 is going to be aired on Tuesday and due to the fact that sam ain't with jack i'll probably be cringing the entire episode)

first i'm veeeeeery glad that in season 4 sam finally gets a chance to wind jack off, or disappoint him (emotionally )
because in season 3 jack was a real ******* with her, and he really goes too far in a hundred days. the fact that he's gotten a girl isn't the real problem, no the thing that pissed me off is that sam has worked her ass off for more than 3 months only to get her CO back, but in the end the guy doesn't want to come home, he just turns away without any words of gratitude or even a simple acknoledgment,he doesn't wanna know what she did for him and that's not kind, that's not kind at all, if i had been her i would have punched him hard and basically told him :"you don't wanna go home that's fine stay on your damn planet but don't expect me to save your ass again" and i would have punched him again, turned away and let him here like an imbecile, oh and i would have punched laira too, i just don't like her face.
all that to say that in season 4 jack is the one showing emotions and occasionally "begging" with her (the curse),
and sam is the one who turns her back to him, and i'm sure she must have hurt him a little, and even a lot...and i'm glad about it, why would he be the one winding the other off?? i mean that slap he took in the curse when sam says she'd rather work during all her vacation that going fishing with him!! that's a classic!!! ahah
that's it that's how i really feel, i think the situations are reversed and that's fine by me...

Stillzen - I'm still holding out for Martouf to make this big comeback in Exodus. I have myself convinced that he is. A Peter Williams print interview said the person he most wanted to 'Sort Out' in seasone five (after Teal'c) was Martouf. As well as the fact that at the con, JR said "when I come back..." and then this shifty little look.....okay, I'm mainly trying to convince myself, and probably after seeing Exodus next week I shall be inconsolable. But, till then...M..M..M..Martouf!

Word of warning i haven't had the patience to read this entire thread.

First of all.. interesting episode. Being the huge sam and jack fan that i am i automaticately hated joe. damn those aschen.

i thought daniels line "Ah, the sun's beeping" was great, just one of those lines.

Good to see frasier in the ep. and that walter guy - "Thursday".

way to go teal'c with the shooting of the aschen dude in the 'terminal' and did anyone else find the automated defences of the gate really (weird, funny, strange.. i could think of a few). Annnnnd for the time span, Teal'c, daniel and jack could have shot out a few more of those laser things in the sgc terminal.

one last thing (sorry if i'm repeating crap) wot on earth was jack holding when sam came to see him in Minnesato (sp?)

Did neone else think it was abit dodgy how they called that guy 'Marty'? I mean, I never liked Jack calling Martouf Marty, but it was still unique to him!!

Please remember that this is all my perspective, heavily influenced by my real need to have JR back in SG....

The con was in London in November - after the series had finished - JR turned up as a surprise guest.

And on the FOR SIDE:

1. Apparently he had lied to the entire cast about attending the con. When did he lie? D+C was at the start of the fourth season! He made mention of being in AT's trailer and Lying to her and TR

2. Don said "I saw this man on set last week and he lied to me." JR came back with saying that the film he was shooting at the time was on the same studio set. ????? I read a magazine article the same month as the con which said that the principle cast had not all been signed. Would they really be filming without all of the cast?

3. I forget the actual questions that were asked, but twice JR came out with "When I come back..." It was answering questions along the likes of what he would like to do/change if he were to return to SG. (Costumes to Brad Wright if I remember rightly) Now the audience went wild cheering, and JR said that "You guys are fast". Now he did do some good backtracking, but someone shouted out that we already knew he was a good lier! He came out with "For you I was lying, and now for *you* I am telling the truth" Yeah, like we'd trust him with that!

4. The look on his face when we started cheering his "When" comment. He looked across at the room where the rest of the guests were as if to look for help as to what he should say next, it just looked as if he was saying 'Do I come clean or just stick with the cover story'

5. Exodus is an episode that is heavily about the Tok'ra.

6. Why would PW say that he want's to sort out Martouf in the 5th if the character is dead. PW was at Gatecon and knows that Martouf character is dead even if not up to date on all the eps?

But, I've since found that:

Entity was the last one in the production run - not Exodus. (could be doing the looping thing).
13 Ghosts finished filming recently.
A message posted on his board said that he was in LA for the next few months. SG filming starts next month.
Peter Williams would say something like that just to wind people up!

I'm either going to be very pleased, or just very gutted in two weeks time. What does anyone else think - am I just deluding myself? Or will they do a Peter Williams ep where he shows up at the last scene and doesn't have his name in the credits just to throw you off.

I been thinking about this....
1)Jupiter is a heck of a lot farther from Earth than Earth is from the Sun, about 4 times the distance. I think that would mitigate much of the effect that turning Jupiter into another sun would have on Earth's weather.
2)If Jupiter was turned into a sun then its size and mass would mean its radiational output would be much less than the Sun with a diameter 8 or 9 times the size of Jupiter (before Jupiter's compression in order to cause it to ignite). Once again, reducing its influence on Earth.
3)The sun Jupiter would still be in orbit about the Sun like the Earth and so that means that there would be times that Jupiter would not even be seen by Earth (i.e. on the oppisite side of the Sun).
4)Consider that the Sun from Jupiter just looks like a really really bright star (see Voyager photos of Sun from same mean distance as Jupiter from Sun) then based on the size,luminial output, and distance of Jupiter from Earth you would have the same effect,probably even less than for Jupiter-Sun now.

This is,of course,merely conjecture, and so just my opinion. And since I am merely an Airline employee, what do I know.
