I'm going to go the other way on this and say I think that General Hammond does know who killed Armin. It would make sence that he has at least some knowledge. the only 3 people who knew were him, Sam and Jack. Obviously J&S didn't order 'it'. I'm not saying that GH ordered it, but he has to be pretty close to someone who set it up. I think he acts a little more innocent than he really is.

I also think that he has it in him too. He's not always the moral authoriatiran good guy we see him as when he is protecting the SGC.

i think i disagree...hammond knows why armin was killed, but he doesn't know who...and isn't going to look too closely either.

Well, "The Stargate Conspiracy" (Lynn Picknett & Clive Prince) has nothing specific to do with the film/series, but does suggest at length that the governments and spook organisations especially in America have been actively funding research using alternative and otherwise bizarre theories and technologies/methodologies such as shamanism/hallucinogens/channelling and its possible uses, including the contacting of extra-terrestrials...:alienooh:

So any possible possession of alien technology is quite likely at some point to have been sequestered by such an agency and kept quiet.

They have a dozen SG teams, stand-by crew on presumably 24 hour support (i.e. probably 3 watches) spread over perhaps a half dozen floors of the Cheyenne Mountain thingy. And that is without the vast number of SF troops who seem to come and go, not least in episodes such as "Matter of Time" and "Foothold". And then all the people in the NORAD complex - surely one of them must have be curious about what is going on downstairs, particularly before they got the inertial dampers working and the entire mountain shook every time the gate dialled in or out!

[PS - When does Hammond sleep? Surely he must spend c. 16 hours of the day NOT on duty, with the facility in the hands of a pair of 2ICs...]
