hi there stripe

i just love dean koontz, two of my
fav's was,"fear nothing" and "seize the night"
the main character in these books was
chris snow he suffers from a rare skin
disorder, which means he can only go out at
night. these two books were just great..peachy

sound good

They sound great Peachy I dont think I have read either one of those but I will now!!!..:)

Thanks

Funhouse

I started reading one of Dean Koontz's books. The Funhouse. What I have read seems pretty good but being a horror it has put me off reading it late at night. Has anyone else read it?

Annette.

whats it about annette? i've read most of his books, but it could have been years, and years ago i read it...peachy

Funhouse

Sorry Peachy, got the wrong title. The one I've been reading is called 'Twilight Eyes'. Haven't read The Funhouse yet. Will let you know when I do. Twilight Eyes is about a man who can see the death look on people before they die. It is quite spooky.

Annette.

it sounds familiar annette, but it was absolutly ages ago i read it, but he is a great writer, one of my fav's...peachy

OOh, i loved Twilight Eyes and, though i don't mean to scare you off, i really hated Funhouse. A few other good ones are:
Hideaway (my personal fave)
Dark Rivers of the Heart
Phantoms (very excellent)
Lightning
Strange Highways --a collection of short stories(esp. Kittens and Dark Pumpkin--if that's the right title)
Cold Fire
Dragon Tears
and Strangers :rolly2:

oooh I'm a Dean Koontz junkie! He's my favorite! I've read every one of his books (as far as I know ;) ) Has anyone read his newest, From the Corner of His Eye? My favorite book of his would have to be Phantoms or Lightning. I haven't read a book of his yet that I dont like. :D

I made it about half way through 'From the Corner of My Eye' and i'm not really sure why i stopped. i'm definitely going to have to finish it up this summer.

Phantoms and Lightning are my favorites, too. Okay, well, Phantoms, Lightning, and Hideaway. At the time Phantoms was the scariest, most suspenseful book i ever read and i ended up reading it straight through the night rather than try and sleep with it running through my head. but that was quite a while ago. actually (with the exception of From the Corner) i'll read them straight through in one day just because i can't put them down.

Though i really like his books, i haven't much cared for some of his oldest stuff like, Whispers, The Face of Fear, Night Chills, or Funhouse. but i think i already mentioned that:rolleyes:

I really like his books because he seems to care about his characters and he makes us care about them, too. what i mean is that he won't kill somebody off for no good reason like some other authors do.

:( I hate that! When authors get you all attached to a character and then do away with em just to piss the reader off! Dean Koontz has killed off some of my favorite characters, but you're right, at least he has a reason for it :)

I have read pretty much all his books, up to the last couple of years (got waylaid by a few other authors), and for me Lightining is still the best. Fantastic characters and I've always wanted them to make a movie of it. It must have been back in the 80's that I read it cos I remember thinking that if they made a movie they should have the two lead actors from the tv sci fi series V as the main characters !

There have been quite a few TV movies of DK's books that have been OK. Loved the one with Jeff Goldblum in, but then, I love anything with him in it !!

What was the book where the guy was able to see the monsters in the Carnival folk. The ones that hung around death ?

And what was the other one where the guy could teleport from place to place - that was well weird - I remember the mother being a hermaphrodite and some strange stuff going on there !

Is it Twilight Eyes that you're referring to?

annette :D

I've only managed to read half of Twilight Eyes. It was giving me the creeps plus the only time I get to read is before bed. So I've given up on it for the time being.

annette :D

:laugh2: It's not a book you wanna read before bed! Or anywhere in the dark for that matter :rain:

The Bad Place. I thought it was pretty good.

So you're a Jeff Goldblum fan too, huh?:naughty:

Lightning was the first DK i ever read and still one of my favs. I see Sandra Bernhard for Thelma--or i did a few years ago.

Jeff Goldblum - oooh yeah !

Don't know what it is about the man but he just oozes charisma and sex appeal. Loved him as Ian Malcom in Jurassic Park, but also with the kinda geeky look in ID4 as well, you want to take care of him (!?!?) He turned up in a film of a DK book a while back, can't remember which one (some fan I am !) I think it was Hideaway.

Of course until this weekend my attentions were shared between Jeff, Chakotay and Pierce Brosnan, but Bond man has gone and got married at the weekend, so he's off my list - if he can't wait for me then ........

Has anyone read Dk's newest one One Door Away From Heaven?

I thought it was pretty good. Way better than his last two, though not even close to Hideaway.
