What's so good about Stargate?

If you like farscape i think you will like stargate. Good plots, characters, exciting, action, and lots more. Definitely worth watching...

what is good in stargate ? -- ALL ..

the story is very good, i like the actors 'cos they play their roles very good, the special effects (most in "Into the Fire") , the devices (vehicles, spacships, ...), weapons and the cool names (i ask me how long it take to create the names and the languages ...) ..

i like too that it there are connections with the real egyptian mythology and so it is very interesting to search on an egyptian website for Apophis or so and read the infos ...

i like farscape too (warrior D'argo is my favourite) but i (and that's only my opinion) like stargate much more ..

it's just so unpredictable, with completely different story lines every episode (while still following one main story line 'exploring through the Stargate')

i agree with padders that if you like Farscape, u'll love Stargate!

exactly oyu havn't seen it so you don't know!
stargate is so much more than 'fart-scape' (sorry) if you like farscape then stargate will take your breath.

What's good about stargate???

good characters, loosely based in fact, (before you start yelling, do a little research, the chevrons are constellations, the goa'ulds are ancient gods, some of the aliens are reminiscent of ancient races...) great, realistic plots(as realistic as sci-fi can get anyway)
and...now here's a concept, it's got a plot!
sorta reminds me of b-5, as you watch it it builds upon itself.
which, imho, is much better than the episodic, let's throw continuity out the window cause it's inconvenient, way of trek (now don't yell, i liked trek, i just like sg better is all)

Nothing like a loyal Farscape fan, Ushi! But I've got to tell ya - if Season 3 doesn't fix part 4 of the Season 2 finale, I'm boycotting. Permanently (I am one unhappy camper).

Ushi, I really love both shows, but I find them to be very different. I think there is much more subtlety to Farscape than Stargate, and yet both have their own, distinct brand of humor; both have good plots; both have built their characters very well (I think Farscape built their characters more quickly, and more in depth); both have big followings.

I do think you would like Stargate if you like Farscape, but don't expect them to be alike. I simply think that if you enjoy the intricacies of Farscape, you will enjoy the other series as well.

I agree, there are both similarities and differences between the shows. For me, Stargate has great variety in plots and characters. I don't know too much about Farscape thoguh I watch it, so I can't really compare.

What's so good? Hmm, long list. I'm a sci fi buff from way, *way* back, but I'm extremely picky about the ones I like and stick with.

For me Stargate has all the best elements: generally exceptional plots, three-dimensional characters with foibles/quirks and interaction with each other that makes me care about the situations they find themselves in, the stargate itself...taking contemporary humans and placing them in situations and times not their own, I even like the music<g>...
