I'm totally with you on that quote!
I think (as Amanda Tapping has also said) that at the start, Sam seemed a little bit too much like: "Yeh, I'm a woman in the military, you gotta problem with that?", but that's probably alot to do with the writers concentrating on Jack and Danny's characters.
I'm glad that over the seasons she's really come into her own and become my fav character!
I think Sam's a really positive role model for women. I mean sure, we don't all go surfing around the galaxy (I only get to do that on weekends ) but she's a great blend of strength,feminity,brains, and warmth that's a great representation of modern day women.
