Some of those old TNG episodes really stand out. I think we will come to regard DS9 the same way. Voyager, I'm not so sure about.

Would not worry about padders he is a decent Lord...

AS for TNG.. I do think Voyager will become as cult as TNG & DS9... it has a certain class of its own

I liked Data with and without the emotion chip. It was interesting to seem him constantly striving to understand the humans around. It was also interesting to see Data try to adjust to having emotions. He was able to more human with the chip, yet he still doesn't understand exactly what it's like to be human. This is shown in several scenes in Insurrection. I think that this added an interesting twist to Brent Spiner's character.

I agree entirely! Brent Spiner is an extremely talented actor, which shows through in his ability to play several different characters in the same episode. This also shows through in his ability to play a characterwith little or no emotion.

Wasn't he 'overacting' just a little in "Generations" though when he first got the emotion chip. It was too much!

11111111111---Well, this is my cat's contribution to the discussion. She just erased MY words in favor of her own opinion.

Anyway, what I said was I really enjoyed Brent Spiner/Data's over the top performance in Generations. I thought it made Data a richer character and it was funny. Brent is such a great actor, so skilled and diverse. I always enjoy seeing him.

There were some classic scenes, like Data discovering he hated the drink Guinan gave him or with Geordi on the destroyed science station.

I thought the movie overall had some major weaknesses, but I loved Data's part in it for the most part.

i agree - the 'emotion' acting was 'over-the-top' -- it got really annoying really fast ---

i'm all for the emotion chip - it was just really weird in this movie -


or - did they re-write Data's part after Brent said he might not do the movie b/c his part was so small?? (heard that somewhere)
