Now that rda has had his b-day and is in his fifty's the reality is RDA wont i think be able to play jack for much longer. So who do you think would be his ideal replacement?
 
no way is jack too old, no one could replace him

51? it is too old to be jumpin around, going through worm holes. He is a risk to stargate ;)

Vera i cant imagine sg-1 without jack but reality is, he has only a couple of years in him i feel. So who would be his ideal replacement? :)
 
They wouldnt relpace him. He is the main character and i think that if they did relpace him, ratings would drop because who would want to watch stargate without Jack. Besides, RDA is like the co-producer???? or something like that anyway.

Stargate might not go for longer than a couple of more years anyway so then there would be no prob.
 
aha ... Rick may be 51, but Jack is in his early 40's ... he's got years of good service *veg* left in him!
 
There is no way rda can leave stargate. it wouldn't b the same. if any of the main characters left i think the ratings would drop. but jack is the center of the team and can't leave

the thing is, it is a very real possibility. last year rda did say he'd like to scale back his work a bit to spend time with his daughter...now don't all get in a panic or anything, but if you had a choice to stay an actor, 14 hour days and all or be exec producer, which also has long hours but more money and prestigue...which would you pick?

it is extremely likely that changes might occure for season 6 & beyond. some actors might not want to stay around, things change...so let's just have fun with this, what if, let's say jack got hurt and couldn't go through the gate anymore, hammond retires and jack is now running the place.

who will get command of sg-1? sam or someone else?
and who could that someone else be?
kevin sorbo, david duchovney, what's his name on third rock from the sun, your next door neighbor...
who would be the ultimate jack replacement?

Well, going a bit out on a limb here, but I'd like to see that Marcus guy from B5 (Jason Carter, i think), as the next leader.. he's got just the sense of humour i think necessary, and he certainly had the fighting skills (and anyone who knows me outside of this place knows i'm MAJOR marcus/B5 fan!)..
of course, like its been said, RDA may have a few years, but Jack is just hitting his prime, so hopefully nothing will change!

I can't agree with Mingo more. :)

I think that Jack is only one with his sarcastic remarks and his sense of humour... But if I must choose another actor, maybe it'll be Kawalsky from alternate reality or Feretti... or some new actor... hm, I like Michael Biehn, so it could be this actor.
But Jack is Jack.
 
marcus is good...i loved him on b5, so is michael biehn...how about eric close? he was also on mag 7, the one with the gorgeous longish blond hair...then he was in once & again...watched the show just for him

I hope that we'll see Mag7 in CR soon.

eye candy's as good a reason as anything else.
do you think he should be similar to jack in personality etc. or a polar opposite?
 
well, i think we've all gotten used to the repartee between the characters, so whoever this new person ends up being (if), it needs to be someone who really plays in with a sense of humour...
i kinda like jack's "dumbness" too... even though he's not at all dumb, the scientists have their thing, and he does the military thing, and doesnt try to hog the scientists glory... (except sometimes when he reminds them that he's NOT dumb..)..
so i guess i'm saying that i would prefer someone pretty close to jack in personality.. i just cant imagine what a polar opposite would be like!
