The brain only has a finite supply of memory and if you fill that up with useless info then you will lose some useful info.
Looks like I need to get some useful, useless info to push out the useless info and stop feeling so useless.

In politics, Jack has some bars on his uniform that are from vietnam service, but they are gone in later season when TPTB realised that he would have only been about 15 when the Vietnam war was on.
 
in politics jack has a flashback on ra's ship landing on abydos... however jack was in the abydoniam cityat this time :)
