Picard to Die?

i was flicking through teletext the other day and came across this headline "picard to die" he's supposed to die a heroic death in the new trek movie, i don't know if this is true, so if anyone has any info on this please let me know
can't imagine tng without picard...peachy

Hi Peachy!

I have heard this also. As I understand it, it was initially reported by a certain newspaper (sorry, can't remember the name right now). Then several other sources began quoting the original report, although most of them (at least the ones I have read) are dismissing it as an unfounded rumor.

I certainly hope it isn't true! Picard is one of my (many) favorite ST characters. Unfortunately, it appears that STAR TREK X may be the last TNG movie, because many of the TNG actors reportedly feel that it's time to move on. I hope not!! Especially since it doesn't appear that there are any plans for DS9 or VOY movies in the future.

thanks for getting back to me little star, i really like picard as well, i really hope they won't kill him. they tried that with kirk, and i feel they made a bad job of it,
there really was no need for it, maybe if the story line had
been stronger, but it wasn't.

wow i'm out of it. didn't know there was going to be a trek 10...
if picard is to die...well i wish they could have handled it like they did spock...no one really knew he died until they saw the end of the movie...that last bit with the bagpipes and the coffin...gets me every time.

if i remember correctly there was a rumor of spock's death, then they 'killed' him in the first few minutes in the kobiashi maru...so everyone was caught flat footed at the end...

GET rid of Jean-Luc!!! What is this! I have to put up with the death of my favorite detective, Chief Inspector Morse (played by John Thaw) and now Patrick Stewart's Picard? Is this a re-run of I, Claudius where everyone died! NO!NO! I won't even mention the people on STARGATE that have bitten the dust this season!

hi jsc, morse was one of my fav's too, i just loved it, the end was so sad. i lived in oxford around the time morse was showing for the first time, so that made it extra special cause i recognised some of the places...peachy

Cool! I love that grouchy chief Inspector! That and Cadefeal are my two faves now that there is no more Sherlock Holmes! Loved Jeremy Brett in the Title. Thought he was the best Sherlock ever!

Also like Helen Mirren's Jane..(Having a senior moment here).. and the lady who did Jane Marple... but names right now...Senior moments are pushing them out!

The others haven't been as good for me. I mean, they are good, just not my cuppa...

I sincerely hope this isn't true. Picard is my absolute favorite actor out of all the Treks.

Patrick Stewart (Ever since I, Claudius, was first broadcast), Avery Brooks (Hawk and Benjamin), DeForest Kelly (Always a good character actor), Michael Dorn (drool, but I like him better with out makeup!,)
and Leonard Nimoy and Kate Mulgrew (since Ryan's Hope).

Picard is certainly a major part of the TNG franchise, if he is killed off I can't see any more TNG movies being made, unless he has a "genesis" in the next movie like Spock did

On the plus side, Riker would finally get to be a captain, as who else could captain the Enterprise after Jean-Luc's demise....

The following piece appeared in yesterday's edition of "The Sun". The paper hasn't always been reliable in the past, but the piece is interesting nonetheless:

'Brit actor Patrick Stewart is so determined that the next Star Trek Movie will be his last he has written the script of Captain Jean Luc Picard's death. Patrick, 60 - who has played the space commander since taking over from William Shatner in 1987 refuses to say how the hero Star logs off. But the plot is believed to involve a deadly enemy...and fellow Brit Alan Rickman has been lined up for the part. Patrick said "With the movie I have very strong feelings that it should be the last for the Next Generation, at least the last for Jean-Luc Picard. "We have at the moment a 28-page storyline, which sounds really exciting."

(Sub Heading) CLONING "I have Written an ending for Picard in which we finally kill him off and producers are looking over it now. All I can say is that this film will deal with a supreme and hopefully memorable villain. There's some cloning involved, and enemy Romulans But I will say no more." The death scene is one of a nimber being considered by Executive Producer Rick Berman. But he HAS agreed that Picard must die. Star Trek has already disappeared from TV. The last series of The Next Generation was filmed two years ago and producers say they have no plans for another. Shooting for the movue, Star Trek 10, is due to start in the Autumn. It should hit cinemas in Spring 2002.'

Please do remember that this is only a rumour at the moment.
